Yep. It's too dysfunctional a situation to persist.

Something that requires real politicians, not mere partisans but people who genuinely care about the country as a whole, will appear on the horizon. God forbid it should be a major disaster or another World War; but something, sooner or later, will appear, that only a unified group of true statesmen and stateswomen can address...something that partisanship will cripple...and the deficiencies of the present, polarized situation will be brutally exposed. Then, and only then, I fear, will the situation change.
