Well, you can use Ptolemy to predict the position of the stars and planets to a surprising degree of accuracy. That is science. If you so wish, you can believe that the Earth is the centre of creation. That is metaphysics. By the same token, you can use Einstein's field equations to predict the the position of the stars and planets to an even better degree of accuracy. Even better science. If it pleases you, you can believe in spacetime, but it is still metaphysics, as it goes beyond the empirical data.A_Seagull wrote:I don't see that there is a real distinction between your 'two sides' to a theory.
