I've made the assessment that consciousness exists even after you & are are gone. Matter of fact, we could be gone already.

your assessment is a falacy.
You WANT the mind to be immortal.
so yo bend reality to the task of giving you evidence..
this is sad.

Its a terribly naive view that consciousness is a mental product.

Im right there with you. .
consciousness is a mental product..
You may not appreciate me being there.. i can be a pain in ass.
but one day when faced with 2 or 3 hardcores.. thats. where i come in and clean house.
no 'believer in afterlife .. of soul over mind. does not fall before my mind. wich will die and ceaase to exist.
lesson one.
If i cannot die then i cannot commit suicide?
There is no off switch?
As colonel kurtz said.. THE HORROR
condemned forever to listen to people like Bill Wiltrack,
the only thing worse than hell is eternal life.

It appears I'm not naive then as I think it the product of the physical and self-consciousness the product of two physicals.

"Its a terribly naive view that consciousness is a mental product."
this comment is so stupid that to be honest. i cant think of a reply.
so i will go to the exteme..
A car accident.. a young girl gets lanced through the eye orbit.. by a windscreen wiper blade.
3 weeks in coma.
when she wakes.. she can tell the time
A time savant is born.
more accurate than an atomic.. clock
: according to the accurist.. on the third beep it will be 10:21 and 50 seconds.
no-one has ever managed to find out who the accurist is.
Even under massive deep hypnosis... she says nothing.
THAT
is a Mirical
And some idiot is going to say.. her mind is not linked to her braiin.
infact one product of brain is mind.
it seems many have no brain or mind.. the idiots that are allowed to make very stupid posts
So why do i reply.. to save children.
from the stupid.

I am positive that whatever you are actually saying, for you, it is correct.
And I am not contesting or confronting your opinion.
There is no way someone who has not been touched by objective consciousness can understand the admissions of someone who has.
Either you have been there or you haven't.
And, I cannot take anyone there.
I hope, with all my heart, that you are comfortable where you are at and that you never change. That would please me.
For the life of a philosopher is not an easy one...

One needs to think very clearly and unemotively lest judgement become impaired or partial. Consciousness is not cognition. Mind and brain are of course linked but in general are not considered identical in any commonly regarded discipline or profession, though can often times be considered identical within such for practical purposes. There is a strong demarcation which could be characterised in a similar way to an above reply, viz. mind is more a thing of process rather than a physical thing.
Yes, self consciousness is more synonymous with mental activity than, say, self awareness is but this in no way provides evidence that consciousness has its origin in mental activity. Again... Consciousness is not cognition.

Agreed, its appears to be perception.

Ignoring the dualism, 'it' appears to be linked by Body.
I also think philosophy appears to be an uncommon discipline or profession then.

Not sure what you're saying here?

Agreed, its the having of a body with senses that perceive in an external world.

But what if consciousness resides in the Higgs boson particle, (the God Particle) or in other such fundamental particles?

Yeah well mind is more connected with memory than is brain, so is more to do with personal process and personal thought rather than plain old dry brain function. It is a process intimately connected with development of consciousness. Thats why I say that Memory is more process than physical thing. The etymology of the word connects it unequivocally to memory.
