So then why did you dismiss the BBC and HNS with "because taxpayers aren't calling the shots."?

Cuz it's slavery/theft. to take a man's resources without his sanction.

You ought to read the thread from the start...you're so off the mark about my positions, I'm startin' to get embarrassed for you.

It seems whatever your definition of "socialism" you deem it necessary that taxpayers must be calling the shots. Otherwise it's not socialism.

Nope. Wrong.

Good thing the brits have sanctioned the BBC and NHS then, so it's neither slavery nor theft.

You can buy your TV license online. Voluntarily and everything.

Shame, Harry. You seem to be very confused (as usual).

That speaks to the necessity of an opt-out and has nothing to do with socialism.

Nope. Wrong...again.

I'll happily use the normative definition that you have in mind from which you are asserting that any particular example is "not socialism"

You must be confusin' me with some one else cuz I haven't dismissed anything as not socialism.
So you are having memory problems now?

Did you forget that you dismissed the BBC and HNS as being publicly owned?

And you objected to the claim of "public ownership" because the taxpayers had no say.

Did that happen or not?
Do you remember, as I dismissed the dismissed them and objected to both that I called them slavery and theft?

I never brought up the dreaded socialism.

Again: you need to read the thread.

But the BBC is voluntary, Harry.

Every single person in the UK who pays for a TV license is doing that because they want to. You don't think that's a bit different to slavery/theft?

That's like sayin' cuz America sanctioned slavery (actually owning human beings) it wasn't wrong.

Well if you put it that way, then you must be a wage slave.

Just because you sanctioned it, then it doesn't mean you aren't a slave.

Since you've never actually offered a definition for socialism, er, Socialism I can't say if that's accurate.

What i just said applies to all systems of government and has "Nothing To Do With <Any Version Of> Socialism!"

yeah, but Harry wants to opt out of being governed.

He especially wants to opt out of being governed when he doesn't want to be held accountable for any of his actions.

But the BBC is voluntary, Harry.

As Till sez: If you don't have a TV, you don't have to pay for the BBC, but you can't have a TV and not pay for the BBC.

Sounds kinda slavery-like, theft-like, to me.

Isn't that what your goal was all along when you compared voluntary participation in TV licensing to slavery?

If the "voluntary" part doesn't make it non-slavery, then you are a voluntary wage slave.
