The question is; is that a dirty thing to do. I say no because I detect no genuine hostility from the gentleman. It's purely psycho-philosophically designed, yes, but not as a compensation mechanism for any authentic feelings of personal inferiority, see. The confidence demonstrated in Biggses rhetorical behavior clearly shows a person who genuinely feels intellectually superior to his interlocutors.... so this can't be just an act, just a demonstration if compensatory behavior because of low self esteem, etc.
Biggs is the real deal Sophist. Perhaps the last honest breed of philosopher.

shoot i haven't done stone work in twenty years. wuddint gonna do it but homegirl made an offer i couldn't turn down. that cultured stone on the wall is fake but the flagstone slate on the floor is real. Nobody wants to pay a mason's price for cutting real rock to that shape, so the prefabricated stone wuz born. Like I'm not gonna chisel a single rock for thirty minutes to shape it right. If I had to, my price would be much higher.
she said she wanted to match this but with rock instead of brick.

This is what I came up with. The wall trim is simple. There's a 5/4 1x4 primed pine frame (the three sides) nailed flat to the wall (it isn't built out) and horizontal 3/4 1x4s inside the frame nailed flat, and crown at the top.

She wanted those three darker flagstones like that. I know, you'd think they should be spread out, but she's got a big plant vase thing she wants to put on the left side... and she doesn't want to have the darker stones covered by something. There was a method to her madness.
