Listening to an album called "The Microphones in 2020", it had a line that was super interesting to me.

All the layers of life

I keep a candle by my side
And watch it disappear and glow
At the same time

That candle metaphor... damn, I love it. That's the best we can hope to be in this life - something that glows as we're disappearing. Some of us don't ever even glow.
