I caught up with some old friends last week - and genesis was played much, and a bit of Phil. I like, but not really up there where I like lyrics to be, deep about reality, not so much about relationships.

thanks for reply - Phil? must have been latter stuff - not a fan of the Genesis i grow up with (post Gabriel). I grow up with Gabriel's solo works (ironically though/think it sucks! - lol).
but Gabriel's Genesis i LOVE - sad I only learned/heard it via the interwebs - just a few years ago (rather than via radio as a kid in the late 70's/early 80's - never would have disscounted Genesis a bland pop as i known back then what i know now).
Lyrics? - ya, some folks are into that - other like me are the opposite (maybe Autistic-ish in mindset) - I love bands with high interumentalism - YES/etc.......even if the lyrics are nonesence (like Yes's). I could not tell you what the lyrics are to damn near any song - for me to note lyrics = concious effort (work) - and i like music for its non-consciousness nature (i.e. for me I "absorb" melody/beat/timing - noting instruments used without thought) -and why i love classical and "New Age" (then it was "big" 80's - Metamora/Montreux/Night Noise/Shaddowfax.
only except WRT lyrics for me is (and only due to the melody of their songs ALSO being excellent..and eventually noting the lyrics after literally years of ignorance of what they were signing about - would be Simon and Garfunkil.
Sound of Silence (about how people are isolated due to modern cultural commercialism - only took me 3 millions hearings and 30 yr to note that! - lol - loved the melody 2.999 mil. hearings without a clue to what they are singing about!
I will say I'm not always so "Thick" (dumb) - i did note this one after the 20th hearing for so (I have the CD - so after the 2-week i figured it out).
I love NadaSurf for the intrumentation - not lyrics - but this particular song has lyrics with a message (and a message - being philosphically minded - i value).
and yes i beleive in Global Warming - and that there will be no snow on the moutain, nor river to cross in 200 years or so.
