Sheesh, all of that timing from random beginnings.

The tubular bells reminded me of Mike Oldfield's very cool album. I saw him live in about 1981 at a very small venue.

It’s under the two big funnels.

What’s he doing in the middle, something with the cam?
The machine almost stops.

The machine parts still can’t add up to this.

excellent Sir! - top 10 for sure!

i like Newman overall - done many movie soundtracks over the years.

love all his stuff on the movie The Player (good movie too BTW).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oroTLjjKW0

He did the soundtrack for both Shawshank Redemption (ex movie too) and Meet Joe Black (this latter movie sucked balls - Monty Markan stared in a much better tv movie in the 70's, as did of course the original one with Fredrick Marsh).

Carter Burwell's stuff is on par with Newman's (top 1-pecentile IMO) - i love his Fargo theme (also a great movie BTW).

carry on.............

p.s. i showed this on my YT channel thanks to Chuck Dacon - before my channel was removed 2 yrs ago do to copyriech violations.

oh well.

my personal favorite Classical Work (nearly forgotten today - disparaged?)

basically an expansion on The Prodigal Son works done earlier by the same composer.

1929 i think.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10soAToOy4U

i think because it has minor cords - makes it "disturbing" - along with "soft- then LOUD" - and also parts have timing changes.

i.e. its sort of sckisophrenic(sp)..............there are parts with flute (i.e islands of conventional beauty), then discord, the beauty then discord. etc.

I do love it.

my second fav is Hindemith's Mathis De Mauler(sp) 1931?.

Hindemith is damn near forgotten name today ;-(.

trivial note:

Fall of Eagles (TV mini-series of early 70's - and excellent too BTW)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0207885/

used Prokofiev's 4th as music in that series.

2-cents.

You sure about that? As far as I know it still opens with the same theme as the original series...

...the same symphony which contains the beautiful Adagietto heard in the film Death in Venice.

It's possible they use Prokofiev for different scenes within the series. I don't know! I've only seen the first one many moons ago.

yes, I'm sure - its used in the latter part of the series (during the 1917 uprising) - I have the DVD set, and have viewed it at least 2 times - once many YT years ago (before they got anal and removed DVDs of old shows)- and once after the earlier veiwing on YT, after me buying the DVD set for personal reviewing.

- and so, yes. i'm sure.

Prok 4th has been a personal favorite since i first heard it in 1992, and i first viewed Fall of Eagles in 2013 on YT.

I know that work well Sir.

It's all good! I haven't seen it for a very long time - though it was a great series. The only thing I remember was the opening theme so appropriate for the subject. One remembers that which is repeated most often.
