.
I'm glad you brought this point up.
I have been thinking about this subject for a while now & one day I may devote a new thread to this point.
I don't even read entire articles now.
There is just too much coming at us. We are awash in media; information.
..............................................................
This internet is an H-bomb that has exploded and now we are being hit by it's force.
It's amazing and it is devastating in it's power. Power that we are now just beginning to feel.
People don't concentrate anymore. Not the way they used to. Long bouts of concentration, the kind it takes to concentrate on reading a book, is no longer a valuable skill. We don't have the time.
Things are so much faster now.
Short, focused bursts of concentration is now what is valuable.
Being able to split our concentration form - let's say, listening to a professor while being able to carry on a text conversation AND being able to text type WHILE looking at the professor AND receiving incoming tweets.
THAT is the new concentration.
...................................................................................
You may not approve.
You may not understand.
But that doesn't matter anymore.
You can express your opinion more easily now. You can express you opinion more widely now...it's just that no one can now hear you in this new cloud of information & voices.
It is a deluge.
