Nigerian tribal customs are polygamous. She wants to drag her fiance into them. But then again, she obviously just wants the parts that suit her.

Yes, I think she is being hypocritical. She's selecting the parts of being a traditional Nigerian woman that she likes (the family stuff, the ceremonial stuff, and so on) but is not at all committed to the lifestyle of a traditional Nigerian woman.

But she'd only really be a hypocrite if she insisted on it; if she merely asks her intended to play along with it ceremonially, then he can do that if he wishes, and she's not evil to ask it. It's trivial.

This is indeed the perennial problem of modern women. When it suits them, they want to be modern but when it does not, they want to be traditional.

She will obviously first try to manipulate him into going along.

But then again, modern women tend to be combative, argumentative and confrontational, and they feel the need to always be right.

It will inevitably result in lots of fighting words. She actually has insisted already. She has already more or less confronted him with an ultimatum.

Like all modern women, she is indoctrinated with a combinatorial and contradictory theory that is not closed under logical consequence. Truth is not a logical consequence of the theory that she believes in, but a consequence of what suits her in the moment.

If the situation does not explode now already, then it will surely explode later on. That is just a question of time. That is why he'd better pull the plug on the deal before it is too late.

Not a happy prospect.

There are now 2.2 billion Christians in the world. Islam is on its heels with 1.97 billion. But due to a higher Muslim fertility rate (2.9 children per woman on average, versus 2.6), Pew Research projects that sometime around 2075, Islam will be the world’s dominant religion.

It is all about blaming others for self-inflicted problems. It is not Islam that prevents the white western middle class from reproducing from generation to generation.

When Muslims move to Europe and the US or flee there, in a couple of generations they tend to have similar birth rates as people from other religions or backgrounds.

Yes, it is the same legal environment. Eventually, it generates the same results. Religion is just one of the many factors at play.

However, unlike what a lot of people seem to believe a low marriage -and birth rate is not an economic problem. Poor people typically have more children than the middle class. Furthermore, more income does not result in more children.

For men, it is the legal quagmire that discourages them from marriage and children, while for women, it is the feminist life strategy, i.e. pursuing higher education and jobs, that discourages them from marriage and children in their prime age when these things are still an option. This cocktail, enforced by government, affects everyone regardless of religion. Without government intervention, the problem of the low birth rate would not exist or certainly not as much. For example, without the almost $2 trillion in student loans guaranteed by the government for the purpose of acquiring mostly useless degrees, many young women in the US would undoubtedly refocus their prime years on marriage and children.

It ends up not being much of a factor. Further it's not the legal situation, it's things like advanced health care leading to child survival, better opportunities for work for both parents and children. It is a natural tendency when there are good resources and opportunities to not have many children.

Sure, that's more or less supporting my point.

Only when birth control is available. So, the phenomenon is not that "natural".
