Our government has made us ALL into thieves.

How should society be organised, if at all?

Sorry, honey, as the wizard or Ouzo, I am able to see through the ploys and artifices of the false prophets of government and religion, our most dangerous institutions.
You are living in the past, Shouting Boy.

You are living in the past, seemingly around the time of the American Civil War. Not sure why so many of you Americans live in the past. It's quite strange.

There was a time when religions and governments were most powerful entities. Not any more. The eighty richest billionnares own as much as the 3.5 billion poorest people on Earth - half the world's population. Increasing numbers of multinational companies have a revenue exceeding the GDP and developed nations like Norway and New Zealand.

GW Bush would not have been able to destroy the US's economy and morale with the Iraq war if not for the enthusiastic support he received from oil, arms and security companies, and media lead by the largely unacknowledged warlord, Rupert Murdoch.

Chasing "gummint" is a waste of time, like believing that you can cure your cold by constantly blowing your nose - just symptoms.

When was the last time your stupid-ass government landed a man on the moon, huh? Oh, I forgot, that is the past, isn't it? If it weren't for the USA, you foreigners would still be tuning in to your crystal radios!

And if it weren't for Marconi, the US wouldn't have radios and btw, we're the foreigners on this website Boob (btw why aren't you posting anymore on Philosophy Forums?)

It was a great and inspiring achievement, and done with computing power inferior to the average mobile phone.

It doesn't change the fact that you have a fairly standard civil war mentality when it comes to government, and a weirdly naive trust of private industry, which is pulling governments' strings, pressuring them into action and taking the rap. If governments don't play ball then Rupert and co use their broadcast power to have those governments removed. Then everyone rails against the government and the puppet masters continue without scrutiny.

Yes, we are pawns of governments, but governments are pawns of bigger players.

Yeah, like the late and great Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman, huh?

The ideas of old theorists don't quite apply in today's globalised economy, where multinationals are wealthier than entire nations.

Gosh, I hope they don't take away his Nobel Prize in absentia.

Why would they? Is Newton to be criticised because he didn't know about relativity or quantum mechanics?

Just because a person is great in their time does not mean their ideas are applicable for all times.

Heh, my first thought was Queen of the Damned, a cracking good read and a cut above the usual vampire chick lit :)

True, Newton's laws of motion are no longer relevant.

Newton's laws do not apply in all circumstances, as it was posited before Einstein and QM.

The same situation applies to economists who had no way of knowing about the particular circumstances of this technological age.

Please, since you obviously know nothing about science or economics, you would do well to stay away from either subject, and I might also add, anything spiritual or political.
