Everybody should refuse to register for the draft, and refuse to be drafted under any circumstances. Either this is a free country or it isn't!
For the discussion of all things philosophical.

Fucking waste of oxygen.
I think this a fair point for your country bob. Luckily I live in a free one.bobevenson wrote:Everybody should refuse to register for the draft, and refuse to be drafted under any circumstances. Either this is a free country or it isn't!
Let's see, are you saying that nobody can be conscripted into the military in England, and anybody serving in the military can say "take this job and shove it," at any time, and just walk away? Is that what you're saying?Arising_uk wrote:I think this a fair point for your country bob. Subscription ended long ago, and there is precious little chance of it returning. It's called a working democracy.bobevenson wrote:Let's see, are you saying that nobody can be conscripted into the military in England, and anybody serving in the military can say "take this job and shove it," at any time, and just walk away? Pretty much yes. Our Army is a professional one and doesn't want soldiers who don't want to be there snd in fact much of the training is to weed out those unsuited to a professional army. Plus since we have pretty much a free education system people don't have to use the Forces as a way to get one although it is true that you can get a fairly good technical career from it if you wish. Of course not saying conscription couldn't come back in dire circumstances but we do not have to register now in any way.Let's see, are you saying that nobody can be conscripted into the military in England, and anybody serving in the military can say "take this job and shove it," at any time, and just walk away? If you're saying a British soldier can tell his superior officer to go fuck himself, and just walk away without any consequences, you better see a doctor, and the sooner the better.Arising_uk wrote:Pretty much yes. So now you're an expert on my country are you bobby?bobevenson wrote: If you're saying a British soldier can tell his superior officer to go fuck himself, and just walk away without any consequences, you better see a doctor, and the sooner the better.
I'd like you to cite a credible source that confirms a British soldier can summarily tell his commanding officer to go fuck himself and take this job and shove it, without it causing him more problems than he cares to deal with. What fucking planet do you live on, anyway?Arising_uk wrote:So now you're an expert on my country are you bobby?bobevenson wrote: If you're saying a British soldier can tell his superior officer to go fuck himself, and just walk away without any consequences, you better see a doctor, and the sooner the better.
There will be consequences bobby and they will be that they'll be leaving the Army. But if they wish to leave they don't have to resort to such methods they can just request to leave, refuse to serve. It's not called a professional Army for nothing and as such I apparently live in a freer country than you.
A free one apparently.bobevenson wrote: I'd like you to cite a credible source that confirms a British soldier can summarily tell his commanding officer to go fuck himself and take this job and shove it, without it causing him more problems than he cares to deal with. I'm talking about any time, and I'm talking about a free country, which Great Britain certainly is not. It's a slave state!Arising_uk wrote:When you talk about this soldier tell the officer such a thing are you talking about in combat?
A British soldier can request a termination of contract.bobevenson wrote:I'd like you to cite a credible source that confirms a British soldier can summarily tell his commanding officer to go fuck himself and take this job and shove it, without it causing him more problems than he cares to deal with. Obviously not as much a slave state as the USA, which was 50 years behind the country that led the emancipation of slaves, the UK.bobevenson wrote:I'm talking about any time, and I'm talking about a free country, which Great Britain certainly is not. Well not the soldiers apparently nor the citizens who do not have to register for a draft. All by your definitions bobby.bobevenson wrote: I'm talking about any time, and I'm talking about a free country, which Great Britain certainly is not. It's a slave state!
