However an idealised rendition of the Australian ethos is that every bugger is entitled to a fair go and thus I would prefer to call myself an egalitarian. I well realise that this ethos is honoured as much in the breach as it is respected in the observance but I nevertheless regard it as a worthy statement of cultural principle.
