my southern baptist, republican - until recently when the takeover of the party by raving lunatics became obvious - parents responded with a 'meh'. when i and my gf (now my wife) openly became a couple - my dad was mildly surprised and my mom was mildly surprised that he was surprised at all.

to them - and a lot of religious conservative parents these days - this is not something that calls for a response

where there was disapproval it was more in the form of 'dear you are going through a phase' than in the form of any sort of talk of sin

there are a couple of cousins who will not talk to me any more - nor will their parents - but its not like i was ever eager to talk to those cousins and aunts and uncles anyway

the elders at the church told me that i could still go to church as long as i did not make a big production out of being a lesbian - apparently they were concerned that i was going to shave my head, get tatoos and start wearing lots of metal-studded leather - i found out later through the grapewine that some of them wanted to make a big production themselves but the cooler heads prevailed. (strangely, it was the younger elders who were angry and wanted to cast "sin" out of the church. the really elderly conservative and very stern ladies did not actually see it as a big deal as long as i did not shave my head

Kayla, see the thread 'Fairy tales for Adults', page 3, 12 posts up. There is a link to 'Overhauling Straight America'. Therein is described a PR strategy. When corporate and mercantile interests combine through entertainment industries, through the 'culture industries' mediated by capital and PR experts (MTV is a good example), and when a concerted effort is made to mainstream homosexuality as just another consumer choice, I would term all that 'homosexualization of culture'. It extends far beyond 'simple homosexuality' and encompasses the industry of culture. If you have other questions let me know. I am in the process of 'working out my definitions' and so try to take advantage of opportunities to explain my developing views.

I have been told that The Reptilians only get into the brains of bat-girls causing strange modifications of common spellings.

As far as I know they contemplate no inroads in the gay culture wars. But send along the info you have ...

I saw a bikers armpatch the other day on FB.
It said something like "I'm never going to be made to learn the language of illegal aliens"
The link you showed is much like that.
Stop!! Stop that thing that is not actually happening!!
"Vote to stop whales running for president!"
No one is making Christianity illegal.

The constitution guarantees religious freedom. So where the government employs people they should be free from the imposition of any religious ceremony. And the US ought to do that with pride.
FUCK the police that have "In God We Trust" in the bumpers. Police are there to uphold the law, not to ram their sense of morality down a person's throat.
