Not really hijacking anything, the words of destruction are already there, instigating hate and war!

I'm looking at the same thing you are.
Islam, like all other major religions is, for the most part, a peaceful, inner discipline.
Don't get on your high-horse.
I was raised by an equally bloodthirsty MINORITY within the religion I practiced.
I am about the most peaceful individual you can find.
Everyone that believes in a god; there god, must have THAT god on their side - even if they are about to do a dastardly thing.
You mention looking at some words - I INVITE YOU to look at my initial post here & some follow-up ones.
BARACK OBAMA, ALL OTHER RECOGNIZED LEADERS WITHIN & OUTSIDE OF THE MUSLIM RELIGION SUPPORT the premise of this thread, ISIL is hijacking the the PERCEPTION of the Muslim religion Islam.

It's amazing how a guy can miss the obvious point.
Peace? Yes, but only by pacification. Secured? By conquest. Submitted? Forcibly.
Of course there's peace once all opposition has been crushed, all freedom destroyed and all dissent devastated. Then, yes, you have "peace" of a sort.
Quite possibly. Certainly, peace is not guaranteed until all are Muslims.

Look, I don't know what more to add without becoming emotionally attached to this thread.
“We Will Degrade and Ultimately Destroy ISIL”
~President Obama ~
When the greatest leader that ever was, the leader of the free world, President Barack Obama states, “We Will Degrade and Ultimately Destroy ISIL” - you can take that to the bank.
He did not state that we will degrade & destroy Islam, he did not state that we will degrade & destroy all Muslims.
...I'm not here to change anyone's mind. Believe what you wish.

He hopes. He sounds no different from Bush, with all of his 'War on tourists'. You can't beat an ideology like IS with guns and bombs, you have to give the populace a better life or hope and so far the US's actions have not given hope or a better life for those they have 'freed' from the dictators they previously supported.

Can we? Just like we could take it to the bank that the Iraqi army was in a fit state? Like we're now being told the Afghan Army is in a fit state.
He's not the leader of the 'free world', he's the President of the Disunited States and soon he'll be gone to live on his very nice lifelong pension.
He did not state that we will degrade & destroy Islam, he did not state that we will degrade & destroy all Muslims.
The Sunni's are not going to see it that way but the Iranians will be chuffed.
...I'm not here to change anyone's mind. Believe what you wish..
Then you are just a troll.

This hardly constitutes proof of anything. He's been promising to close Gitmo for 6 years now (Republicans may have nailed that coffin shut yesterday, btw). I take very few things he says (or any elected leader, for that matter) to the bank. It's a good way to go broke.
That said, I can certainly respect when a discussion starts to become too personal. My interest is merely professional, so I'm happy to bow out and let this thread sink down the page.

In light of the discussion above, I think this is a must-read concerning ISIL.

Two quotations too relevant to miss:
...focusing on [other factors] to the exclusion of ideology reflects another kind of Western bias: that if religious ideology doesn’t matter much in Washington or Berlin, surely it must be equally irrelevant in Raqqa or Mosul.
and
...the Princeton scholar Bernard Haykel, the leading expert on the group’s theology, told me, “embarrassed and politically correct, with a cotton-candy view of their own religion” that neglects “what their religion has historically and legally required.” Many denials of the Islamic State’s religious nature, he said, are rooted in an “interfaith-Christian-nonsense tradition.”
Great article. Thanks for that. Bang on the money.

And yet they think Jesus will come and save them at the end. I wouldn't be surprised.
