Then what are your thoughts on Islam and the Quran? I worked with a Muslim for many years and we had many conversations about Islam and Christianity. I had a copy of the Quran but only read a small part, it's now gone and I haven't replaced it. Did you know that the printing of a Quran sanctioned by Islam may not be published without the original Arabic printed along side whatever translation is being printed. That way those who know Arabic can double check the translation for accuracy.

I have many thoughts on Islam and the Qur'an. Could you be more specific? With respect to the inclusion of Arabic, even those who know Arabic are hard-pressed to determine accuracy in more than a few places. That we have no critical edition of the Qur'an text only adds to the confusion.

Actually I wasn't trying to be specific, I was just fishing for a dialogue on something I'm somewhat familiar with.

Written by a group of people based upon hearsay, notes, and possibly some actual transcripts from their presumed mouthpiece a sketchy fellow supposedly named Mohammad.



I believe the supposed most authentic interpretation is called Uthman's codex...or something of the sort.





NEEDS TO BE UPDATED. Dated historical text. Old, outdated laws. Mostly stuff like that.





I put much more weight into the simple, honest, posts of most of the active members here at The Forum.

Ah, ok. Well, I'm sure we'll get some meaty topics in the future, though it does seem like this forum is more concerned with debating Christianity than religion writ large.

I believe that most here are more interested in Christian Bashing and don't realize that a real dialogue on Christianity must include Judaism and Islam, which are the predecessor and successor of Christianity. BTW I am also somewhat knowledgeable on Zen Buddhism, if you care to address that subject.

FYI, I'm not adverse to having a dialogue with another member while ignoring the interruptions of those who would disrupt a serious conversation.
