Of course, in the absence of all personal information about you, I cannot prove that you would be in severe hardship or worse if the state were not protecting you. But one only has to look at what happens when the state is unwilling or unable to protect the people to see how fragile one's personal security would be without the peace-keeping function of one's own government. At 51, you would already be one of the lucky survivors against the odds in Somalia.

If any of your teachers were themselves educated in the public system, then your own education inherited more than just a dollop of it.

I can only speak from experience: in every case where my life or property was threatened (and there have been a few) the cops were not there to protect or serve me. I defended myself.
