Manufactured things do, they have the purpose and function they were designed for, if they didn't then we'd only need one tool.

"purpose
ˈpəːpəs/Submit
noun
1.
the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
"the purpose of the meeting is to appoint a trustee"
synonyms: motive, motivation, grounds, cause, impetus, occasion, reason, point, basis, justification More
a particular requirement or consideration, typically one that is temporary or restricted in scope or extent.
"state pensions are considered as earned income for tax purposes"
..."

The reason guns exist is to kill things, this is the reason why they were invented. That you can do what you like with them in no way removes their purpose and function.

Manufacturers produce guns because people want to buy them! That's their "purpose" if you're going in that direction.

The manufacturers (at least I hope) aren't conspiring to get more people killed. They are just making money.

They produce them because people want the ability to kill things.

By producing things that kill efficiently.

That's some but not all the purposes people have for the guns they buy. Most people, again, aren't aspiring murders and killers.

That penetrate and damage severely. Sometimes with the aim of efficient killing, like if you poison your bullet, and sometimes for efficient hitting, like working on precision.

Again, the manufacturer is only making what people are willing to buy. If people made the guns themselves in a bid to assissinate somebody, THEN, the purpose would've been to kill. But manufacturers don't care if you are an assassin or not, they care if you're willing TO BUY. They make it so that you will BUY it. That's all the purpose there is to it.

I have to say Arising you are banging your head against a wall of the obvious. But bang away, if it serves you well.

I think I have come to conclusion that hypocrites rule the world, and they are self righteous about it. Live with it I suppose, at the end of the day, all you can expect is hypocrisy, it is human nature, and as soon as you question it, you are wrong. Way it is I think, get used to it. No hypocrite will ever be wrong about anything. No hypocrite ever could or would, and that is why perhaps the world is such a fucked up place...

I have come to the conclusion as an atheist that the ultimate or most mortal sin if you like is hypocrisy.

Discuss.

Simple topic no messing around what do you think?

I agree. It's the closest idea i can find to make evil a meaningful term.
