Sorry, Arising_uk. I guess I've been a little "down and out" lately. Life gets frustrating sometimes. Nothing personal.

Why are you apologizing? You were correct in your perceptions.

Look at that particular member's posts. ALL THAT MEMBER DOES IS ASK QUESTIONS THEN ATTACKS EVERY RESPONSE IN RETURN.

When someone asks you to kiss them.

Ten you kiss them.

Then THEY ATTACK YOU.

They're fucked-up. NOT YOU.

Show me where I've attacked Gary's replies?

That you think asking and answering questions is an attack sums up your issues nicely.

When someone asks you to kiss them.

Ten you kiss them.

Then THEY ATTACK YOU.
Show me where I attacked him?

I'm not surprised you respond so strongly to this conversation as it threatens everything about you.

Nothing to apologise for GC and no offence taken.

I perfectly understand what you mean as I too have been there, life gets to all of us every now and then.

No. I will stand-up FOR members who attempt to be real in using their legal names upon this forum.

I am sickened to think that many members don't have the ability to confront MEANINGLESS fears in not posting under their real, legal names.

Yes, it DOES MATTER.

Show me where I have done any of what you accused me of?

Only attempt? So you admit that using ones real name is no guarantee of truthhood?

Your white-knight claim is just a cover, as its all about you, you, you, isn't it Bill.

Which meaningless fears?
Yes, it DOES MATTER.

What are you yakking on about now?
p.s.
Notice how you have an aversion to the question-mark, why is that?

Hi Bill.

Thanks. And much appreciated for sticking up for me. It's always nice to have someone who will stand up for the "little guy".

But it's OK. I am human ergo I can be wrong sometimes (like I said in the OP sometimes it seems like no matter what I do it ends up to be the wrong thing, or maybe I just have a propensity to make the "wrong" choices when presented options). I just try to admit when I'm perhaps being "unfair" or "unreasonable" and just keep on going. There isn't much else I can do. Like I said in the OP, I'm only 47, it's not time for me to quit yet (I hope). Still "miles to go before I sleep" as I believe Robert Frost said in one of his poems. Of course it isn't always easy for any of us. I'm sure Arising_uk and I will have more disagreements in the future. Maybe I'll "win" the next one. :D

Thanks again.

You won this time. Trust me.

Not because there was or is a right and a wrong in your post or thread. You won because you are you. You have the balls to REPRESENT YOURSELF.

God! Don't get me started. It's like members are here in a vacuum. Like they have never heard of LinkedIn or Facebook or Twitter. REAL people represent themselves on various social mediums throughout the internet.

If you don't have the faith to be yourself here on this forum? Jezus-effing-christ.

I, I - give-up. Seriously.

Fuck it.

As I said before...actually these phonies are apparent. To themselves and certainly to fellow members and distinguished guests.

Even though you scare-quoted, I wasn't thinking in terms of winning or losing or disagreement, just hoping to help you clarify what you wanted as you appeared to be unhappy with your lot, again my mistake. So given this and once again, my opinion is yes, so far what you have is as good as it gets.

All the best a_uk.

Y'know when one actually says 'trust me' you can pretty much guarantee one shouldn't. It wasn't about winning or losing.

Philosophy not Psychology Bill.
God! Don't get me started. It's like members are here in a vacuum. Like they have never heard of LinkedIn or Facebook or Twitter. REAL people represent themselves on various social mediums throughout the internet.
They also create a different persona to fit each different medium. Real people understand that these mediums are virtual.

Here's an interesting thing, I've found that the higher you go up the movers and shakers chain the less and less you'll find them upon these mediums.

Name these apparent phonies and state what is phoney about them. I can bet that all it'll be is that you don't like what they say as it doesn't agree with what you feel.

Hi Bill,

A lot of people out there are full of "hot air". I usually try to deflate balloons gently so they don't go flying all over the place and end up in a mental ward like I once did. On the other hand maybe some people out there who aren't currently in a mental ward, belong in a mental ward. Or maybe I'm just wrong and all that "hot air" holding them up is a "good" thing. If it weren't for "hot air" maybe we'd all still be living in the stone age or something. I really don't know anymore. People are of course different in many more ways to balloons than we are common but it's an ample analogy for now I guess.

My personal opinion is that we are going into the future a bit too fast, to the point where it is causing a great deal of stress on all of us, whether it be the environment, wars, stupid thinking and other things. Things seem crazy out there to me. But I've made a lot of errors in my life and I don't want to make any more.

BTW: On the topic of technology outpacing the better sense of the people who are creating and using it...

Scientists brace for media storm over controversial flu studies

Obviously feel free to respond to my "comment" at the bottom of the page where the article is featured.

EDIT: Or maybe it is impossible for me to deflate some people and they will continue to drive us all (edit2: actually I should maybe say some of us) crazy. I guess that's a possibility as well.

What is a "scare-quote"?

Are you sure I was being "unhappy with MY lot"?

I don't think you've understood ANYTHING I've posted, have you, (nor the reason for it)?

My apologies I thought you put "win" to mean not really. A scare-quote(maybe have the wrong term) is when you quote a word to mean not really.
Are you sure I was being "unhappy with MY lot"?
Whose lot are you unhappy about then?
I don't think you've understood ANYTHING I've posted, have you, (nor the reason for it)?
I don't know, let me recap what I think I heard, 'I've made a lot of mistakes and don't want to make any more, I'm bored with where I am at present, I am unemployed, nothing I do matters in a good way, everything I say and do is wrong, I am always wrong, I relate to others in a way that is seen as complaining, all I hear is depressing truths, etc.', about right?

To this I made the comment that you appear to be having a mid-life crisis given your age but then I didn't read the post where you said you had a mental condition, so apologise for that, more serious than a mid-life then, depression? Either way I then asked you what you wanted and you gave me a list of wants, all I tried to do then was to clarify them as it's easy to want but harder to pin them down to the place where one can actually act upon them.

But you are right, I don't know the reason for why you have posted, what was it?

The "pen-ultimate" reason is that there is a lot of bad stuff in the world and some of those who have the power to prevent or correct it really don't seem to care because everyone below them is too busy buying favor to stand up and take notice of what is going on. Or maybe the problem is that those in power can't get those below them to cooperate and do what they should be doing. I don't know. All I know is that things I'm hearing out there are starting to freak me out. If they are true then WE should all be worrying I should think. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the environment is fine. Maybe the Gaza incursion which killed more than a thousand innocent Palestini civlians (called "mowing the lawn" by some Israelis apparently) was somehow "justified". What do I know. I seem to be the one who always makes the mistakes. But I also am an optimist. I believe that we can overcome some of the problems which are facing us. No we can't live forever. The sun may expire some day. An asteroid may hit the Earth. We can't do anything about those things but we can do something about the environment and global climate change (if it is really happening and if it is really bad). We can also do something about wars and killing innocent civilians. I don't know if anything can be done about me always being "wrong" in everything I say and do or if anything can be done about me making "errors" but we all need to wake up and do something (at least it seems that way to me).

EDIT: Or maybe something "good" is being done and I just don't know it yet?
