Thats interesting!Typist wrote:...
The only difference between me, and you and Arising, is that I have the intellectual honesty to admit I can't stop, whereas you two are a couple of chicken shits, who are puffing yourselves up to hide your fear from yourself....
Is it this? You are afraid that you are a prisoner of your own mind?Typist wrote:...

If you weren't so stupid, you will have realised that I explained all that in the last posting.Typist wrote:Chaz, perhaps you could explain to us why we should listen to those who can't master the quote function?
Chaz, you have declared my posts to be utter nonsense etc. So Mr. Laser Logic, why are you still reading them?
What's logical about that?

Indeed yes I am. I'd take that as a compliment from another but a complement from a moron is worthless, but you have hit upon the truth by chance , yes.
Where did I say I could? Please observe how you are so compulsively addicted to debunking you are now attempting to debunk claims that have never been made. That is pure. It's amazing. What a wonder! You can't bring yourself to stop can you!!!!![]()

Moronic response as usual. It is an observation, not a comment from you! You are truly thick.
The only difference between me, and you and Arising, is that I have the intellectual honesty to admit I can't stop, whereas you two are a couple of chicken shits, who are puffing yourselves up to hide your fear from yourself.![]()
SO you admit you cannot stop? Well I can. I am not an obsessive compulsive. But I do not think I have any obligation to prove anything to you.
Want to debunk that? Ok, good!
Done it, been there, seen it, got the map, read the book bought the t-shirt.
Then prove it Mr. Big Man, stop typing, stop replying, prove me wrong. If you can. But you can't because...
See above.
I know that you can't stop replying to my posts, you know you that can't stop replying to my posts, and everybody reading this knows that you can't stop replying to my posts.
You know nothing.
You are a hopeless prisoner inside your own mind, and too afraid to face it. This is the part of the very real human condition that aphilosophy attempts to address.

I could be wrong but socrates suggests that philsophy shows one how to die, and thus how to live.chaz wyman wrote:Arising_uk wrote:Nope, for my 'sins' theres two of us.chaz wyman wrote:...
I think the real irony here, is that I am probably the only person on this forum that has read your essay ...
Personally, I did finish it but I got stuck right at the beginning with the assertion that philosophy is to teach us how to die?
Interestingly enough, that is the point that got me objecting.
At the stage where I have to read it a few more times before I could comment as I'm not sure of the point its trying to make as he doesn't really define the issue nor his solution I think, although reading lancek4's replies here may help clarify what he's trying to say.
Not sure I'd call it an essay but maybe thats to 'academic' of me, although I do appreciate that work was put into it.
It struck me that his understanding of philosophy is too idiosyncratic to be meaningful, and his conception of it is more like religion, perhaps?
I find its worth doing a quick copy before previewing or submitting a long post as if you've been logged-off during writing it then it returns with the original quoted.lancek4 wrote:Crap Ill have to address the rest of it another time if I can. BS I say. that pisses me off.
I do not know what you mean "a philsophy that does not exist"?lancek4 wrote:Okay - you may well be familiar with the term strawman. You seemed to have devised a chimera - a philosophy that does just not exist, in order to satisfy the twin pillars of your argument. I don't know any branch of philosophy that I recognise with this description. No one is basing their philosophical position on the certainty of death etc...

It is true that there is ONE Platonic dialogue in which Plato describes the manner of Socrates' death, but I think it is a long stretch of the imagination to use this one example to characterise all philosophy. The other famous death of a philosopher that springs to mind is that of Hume. But as far as I remember David Hume did not pen a single word on how to die. For the account of his excellent death we have to turn to his friend Boswell.lancek4 wrote:I could be wrong but socrates suggests that philsophy shows one how to die, and thus how to live.chaz wyman wrote:Arising_uk wrote:Nope, for my 'sins' theres two of us.

Yes Im thinking that perhaps i should re-categorize my essay by "creative writting", but I call it philsophy because I can back up my ponts. But i cont do it now, becuae I just did for an hour and it logged me off when i summitted it so it was deleted.

However, which browser are you using, as if its Firefox then you can normally hit the 'go back one page' arrow a couple of times and you should see your written reply there, as its cached. So you can then copy it and repost it.
