If you think I'm Maia I'm not, mate. Well except for the whole "we are one" zen Buddhist thing, obviously. Really though we're ancient celtic soul mates from another life in tenth century Europe.

If she is a fake, she's a very very consistent one that has been around ILP for milennia. That means the person running Maia, if she's fake, is a very, very sick person in their own special way which we shant be judgemental of since we don't know what the poor bastard has been through.
Tongue and cheek perhaps but let's admit it, with anyone you interact with online, you are rolling the dice. And that includes with me. We can be practically anyone we want to be. Any age, any gender, any character, any philosophy.
And I really do wish sometimes that Julian and Rebecca and I had followed through on our own attempt to explore this years ago. This way I'd have the results of that to convey.

I won't post it here, but if anyone wishes to pm me I'll send them a link to my Facebook account, and if you message me on it, I'll respond, proving it's mine. I've had it years, and no longer actually use it, but it's still up, and there you'll find not only my name, but also links to my school, place of work, and so on.
And I'm 33, by the way, since Prom was asking about it.

There are a lot of weirdos out there. It bothers me when people are too trusting, especially women. You don't have to prove anything to these creeps. I can tell you are genuine. They are only trying to get you to post photos --a red flag in itself.
When you spend some time on X you realise what bloody freaks men really are.
I found out today that people can find out where someone lives from photos they post-- with some kind of gps on smart phones. There are other ways as well apparently, which is why you should always post a screenshot of a photo rather than the photo itself.

Yes, you're right. Perhaps it's a good idea to be more circumspect, in future.

Hey!! I believe you Maia - but iambiguous threw a bit of a curveball and had me second guessing. No pics for me and I assure you I am no creep that needs pics of women on internet forums.
..and I'm pretty certain prom was kidding.

It's certainly true that you can't really know a person till you meet them in the flesh, but I think you can definitely tell if someone is the same individual, under a different name, just by their use of language, and so on.

Absolutely, but I have never come across the Sartyr fella to make an assessment. I was still 90% certain u r who u r!

I've decided that I no longer feel comfortable taking about personal matters, so I think I'll step back a bit. I probably won't disappear entirely, but I don't really wish to pursue any more in-depth discussions, or at least, not right now.

Hey it's Christmas Maia!! Be Happy!
Honestly, I was up the shops this morning and loved hearing the Christmas songs and everyone was really happy (for a change) - I know the closer it gets to Christmas, the busier it will get and the more miserable and annoyed people up the shops will be, but right now seems to be the sweet spot.
Anyway, sorry if us silly men might have gone too far with being daft. Make sure you let us (the forum) know how the Nine Ladies camp goes..

Basically [it seemed to me], she was inviting others here
to explore her personal life.
Then the next day, she posted this:

Seemingly [to me] to have imploded into another whole other frame of mind.
I hope nothing in particular has happened to her.
And, again, given the manner in which I construe identity and value judgments as the embodiment of dasein, she will either have a new experience that pushes her in a new direction, sending her here to get feedback, or she won't.
Or is this actually about her having to prove that she is a real person?! Yes, she is. The Facebook photo there is of Maia. Unless the whole Facebook/ILP/PN/email exchange is part of some fantastic agenda none of us are privy to.
Note to Rebecca:
Where's Julian when I need him most? He was like Maurice Conchis on steroids. He could discover things about people like no one I had ever met. He spun me around and around, sure, but only in order to allow me to see myself in different, more intriguing ways.
Alas, however, he is still dead and gone. And I'm not up to it myself, obviously.

Proof right here of why you should never share private information online. Does anyone really want this level of insanity in their life, perusing their Facebook page etc? The very thought makes one's skin crawl.

I tend to agree with this. In fact, I was the one who convinced Maia to jettison the photo she used over at ILP. That's why it disappeared. There is just too much potential for giving the "wrong person" information that can put you at risk.
Let's call it the UrwrongX1000 Syndrome.
Sure, some will argue that no one should have to take precautions of this sort. We should all be comfortable just being ourselves online. But if some wish to roll the dice and expose personal information and photographs, they have to accept there might be an element of risk involved.

Imploded?
At most, without reading the whole context, it seems like a person changing their mind about something.
