But influences and examples are not vague, for me. There are people in my life who were directly, not vaguely, influential for me . Really this is a fact you cannot reasonably deny not having privileged access to my soul.
I wasn't "denying" that is was so. I was simply saying that if that were all you have obtained from Christ, you haven't obtained what He came to give you.
Can he send a woman instead?
he can send her, but you'll still have to catch her

Well, I know what Christ said He would do. And it's not simply to insert Himself into your psyche as something so vague as an influence or example. So it may be the case that that is how you would choose to make use Him, if you could; but it's not how He chooses to offer Himself to you.

This sort of remark makes you sound as if you like mystery for the sake of mystery.
Jesus influenced an awful lot!

Maybe try reading the comment in the context of what's quoted right before it?

There's nothing "mysterious" about it. He was quite explicit about His purposes. (John 3:16) I'm not being obscure.

It's still a bit opaque. I want to be sure I have your question aright.

Is "he" in your question Christ? Are you asking if Christ could "send a woman"? "Send" where? To do what?

I've already indulged one argument stemming from a joke today. That's my quota.

I posted the link as an interjection into B & Mannie's conversation about mind & brain, so it wasn't meant as a comment about god, but -- yeah -- god exists

I believe the Creator is real, is a person, has an agenda & goals
Do you know as a real creator person aka god what the agenda/goal is?

It is very tempting but I will not accept a theory only because it makes me feel cosy. There are many begotten men who have been as good as Jesus. Socrates also chose to die rather than relinquish his principles.

That would be a bad reason, indeed.

Socrates died for his principles. Jesus Christ died for you.

Tempting! But He knew nothing about me personally unless He had amazing powers of prediction which I do not believe.

He died for the benefit of humanity. The means of transferring the benefit is not supernatural but via language and other symbolic systems, plus the power struggles of the churches and others. I came back to edit this because I remembered JC is in fact God, so He would in fact know me personally.

This does me no good because who I worship is Jesus, not Christ.

Curious. You'd believe in a God, but not that He knows who you are? :?

Yes, objection noted. I returned to edit my post about the point you raise but you posted before I did.

One that is the binary makeup of reality knows U more that U know U. - sure it can leave U to free will, or if it WANTS to, can synaptically 'will' U to do somfin that U thought was your OWN WILL. (akin to robot...woops sorry)
