it was scary though they wanted to pin us down and if they managed to get us down and sit on us we'd be fucking dead those dudes were fat we are talking three meals a day at cracker barrel fat
but it does not matter how fat you are a kick to the balls is a kick to the balls
i loved the expression on their faces when the sheriff's deputy who showed up turned out to be black - its not the 1950s texas any more
now my mom and my bf's mom wont let us go anywhere they are afraid rednecks will set upon us
but overall actual racism motivated violence is pretty rare
for most part overt racism is pretty much a white trash thing these days

chaz wyman wrote:The literal definition of troglodyte means "cave dweller".
thats the etymology and etymology is not the same thing as meaning
the word actually refers to a chaotic evil reptilian humanoid:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troglodyte ... 282008-.29
The object you compared with with is a fossil trilobyte, and has been extinct for millions of years - it does not lay dormant.
It has a surviving ancestor - the horse-shoe crab, and this is not a dormant creature either.
i said it LOOKS like a trilobite
i was referring to the triops
the triops do look a bit like trilobites/horseshoe crabs despite not being especially related to them
and they do go dorman
any half-decent science toys for kids type store will have them

Even this version lives in a cave. In this case the etymology is the same as the meaning.
Don't be silly. The word was not invented by Gary Gygax, it exists in Greek mythology, and is an ancient Greek word. He does not have the monopoly on definitions.
I was a DM before you were born
As for the
triops, yes you are right they do have dormancy, but no, you are wrong to say they are not related to the trilobites. Their fossils can alos be traced back to the Carboniferous. (Unless you believe in creationism)

Maybe next time tell them you are pregnant with child, and they'll leave you alone? That will puzzle them. They'll have to figure out is hitting a pregnant woman a bigger taboo than being a racist.

What the fuck do you know about American education, or for that matter, education, period???
You keep telling us it is the worst in the world. Are you changing your mind again?
But since you asked...
As for me I've been a teacher since 1984. I've taught at all levels of education; infants, primary, secondary, tertiary, degree level and masters level. I've never supervised a dissertation, but I have written several. I have more education than you. I have more qualifications than you. I have more experience than you. Fuck, I'm smarter than you too.
I've also followed the debates on the struggles between evolution studies and creationism in the USA.
a) You're obviously part of the educational problem. Any educational system that is run by the government or supported by the government in any way is improper, b) so-called creationism is not taught in American public schools and there is no evolution debate at all in educational circles, and c) how can you have the gall and absolute audacity to suggest you're smarter than me when you can't even understand the "The Ouzo Prophecy," a paper that even the spokesman for the bogus Spiritual Counterfeits Project understood and was blown away by?

triops are crustaceans
trilobites were not
so i stand by the statement that they are not especially related despite looking a bit similar
horseshoe crabs that you mention are not crustaceans either

Why do people always argue 'dated' mainstream beliefs,
seemingly assuming they must be the only plausible possibilities? I don't see that the relative time we apply is a factor that necessarily un-/substantiates the question of creationism or evolutionism. I only see superimposing the two as possibility, when testing the creationism theory.

They are both Arthropodia, That means they are related.
They are from the same Phylum.
Trilobites and horse-shoe crabs do not share the same sub-phylum or Class - but they are regarded as related to Trilobites, as are triops.
The fact is that is is not known for sure what is
directly related to what over that length of time - its all done with morphology as there is no DNA evidence from the Carboniferous.

Greek Mythology predated
Dungeons and Dragons. Unless you are trying to make a claim that a conspiracy exists amongst all Classical Scholars to down date Homer from the late 20thC back to the Early Iron Age.

If you were the only example of what a state run educational system is capable then, yea, it is improper.

in roughly the same way that humans and lamphreys are related
the monster in the odyssey was a cyclops not a troglodyte
cyclops are also chaotic evil but they are not reptilian and they only have one eye and they are much nastier than troglodytes who are basically sword fodder for mid-level characters

No, not really. More like human and cats.
the monster in the odyssey was a cyclops not a troglodyte.
A troglodyte is a LITERAL word for a cave dweller. It was NOT a reptile as you suggest. It is a caveman
cyclops are also chaotic evil but they are not reptilian and they only have one eye and they are much nastier than troglodytes who are basically sword fodder for mid-level characters
The world is not a D&D reality. Troglodyte comes from ancient Greece, not the mind of Gary Gygax.
A spear at Pelion Troglodytes cast; The missive spear within the bosom past;
Death's sable shades the fainting frog surround, And life's red tide runs ebbing
