You wrote, "So lets settle this: Do contradictions exist?"
NO THEY DO NOT!
Then what does the linguistic term "contradiction" represent?
if "contradictions" don't exist - then why are we even talking about them?
raw_thought wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 3:10 pm
You say they do.
You are lying. i said they don't exist.
raw_thought wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 3:10 pm
Anyway, once you calm down and scroll back we can talk.
I am calm. You are still projecting. I'll wait for you.
raw_thought wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 3:10 pm
Remember? You said that the law of contradiction ( that contradictions cannot exist ) isnt a law.
I did say that. It's not a law exactly like the law of non-uicorns isn't a law.
It's meaningless.

Ahh now I get your confusion. When I say that contradictions cannot exist I mean that only noncontradictory statements reflect reality. When you say that contradictions cannot exist you are saying that no two statements can ever contradict each other.

That's not my confusion, that's yours...
You don't even understand existence.

I already answered that! I said that it is important to classify fallacies.
Anyway, when you calm down and actually keep track of the conversation I will be back.

So you are saying that I am wrong and that 2 contradictory statements can both reflect reality?

That's a non-sequitur.
If contradictions don't exist, they are useless towards your goal.

When will you stop projecting your emotions onto me?

Of course two statements can both reflect reality! I literally demonstrated this for you.
The distance between Buenos Aires and Shanghai is 19000km.
The distance between Buenos Aires and Shanghai is 12500km.
It depends on which way you take.

I don't need to scroll back. My "position" is available to me - it's in my head, but not in yours.
Maybe you need to scroll back?

How on earth is that a non-sequitur??? If i say, "vampires dont exist". I am helping some superstitious kid get rid of his fear. If I say that "A" and "NOT A" cannot both be true, that starts the whole of logic. So you are saying that identifying fallacies is silly? Anyway, you keep posting silly nonsense. I know I said I would leave until you calm down. But this time I mean it.

Of course vampires exist! What do you think the kid is scared of, you idiot?
Actual vampires! NO! Children are scared of the IDEA of vampires.
IDEAS cause fear.
IDEAS are real.
The feeling of fear is real.
Unless you are going to start denying children their emotions with your "logic superpowers".

Good grief! I never said that the idea "vampire" doesn't exist. I implied that the "vampire" does not reflect an actual reality. Bye, enjoy your anger!

Then you should pay attention. The idea "vampire" reflects an actual reality. It reflects a state of mind.
I am saying that the idea "contradiction" doesn't exist. It doesn't even reflect a state of mind.
If you stopped projecting your anger at me, you might actually understand the meaning of my words.

Of course 2 ideas can contradict each other. But reality cannot.

So 2 ideas cannot contradict each other. I disagree.
