Rachmaninoff piano concerto no 2.

I heard an interesting story about the concerto's 2 and 3 once. The soloist came on stage and sat at the piano and nodded to the conductor, who acknowledged by nodding back. They waited for a second or 2 and the soloists nodded to the conductor again, and he nodded back to her. Then she held up 3 fingers indicating concerto No 3, and the conductor shook his head and held up 2 fingers indicating concerto No 2. She paused a second or 2 and then started the correct concerto. Apparently they had not clarified which concerto they were playing before hand, but is was a good thing that she knew both of them.

Apparently the piece was scheduled without rehearsal, and both the soloist and the orchestra knew their parts, and the mix up occurred because there was not enough communication before hand.

BTW, If I remember correctly, I heard the story on a PBS program, and I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of the story.

It's curious, i've tried to listen to many Rachmaninoff pieces, but piano concerto n2 is the only one I like (I like it a lot though).

Ruben Blades is a renaissance man.

I know a couple of sword freaks, I know many engineers who know a lot of metal, guys who had studied history, and people who work in weapon factorys... katanas had always been a poor sword (and their fighting style with them is poor too, compared to their equals in this side of the world).

I asume you Understand Spanish to say that about Ruben Blades, well, I like "lyrics musicians", but I don't like his songs, I have a very different mind. I like "ojos de perro azul" and a couple more, and he has a wonderful voice, but I don't like the guy.
I'm not really into japanese music (out of videogames music XD), but take a looj at this group, it's not "japanese music" I think, but I like how they play and they are japanese XD.

This is high commercial music, but because they have deep pockets and can get whoever is hot to work with THEIR 'artist' it can be good, in a way. So on the surface it's super hip to the teen. Creating immediate come-back sales. It is at the same time totally fabricated and without any attachment to concepts of authenticity. This is its weakness. But we live in a culture that is super fast. No time to think or percolate a thought. By design.

He came up with "Pedro Navaja" (which years later I realized was based on Mack the Knife) and hit fame. Then he started a great collaboration with Willy Colon that gave us some classics and went on solo with politically charged lyrics. I remember when the song "Decisiones" was banned for mentioning the menstrual period and the controversy around "Tiburón" (Reagan was the shark). You may dislike his songs, but surely he has experimented with composition and his lyrics are something apart from the rest of the Salsa world. There's a good chance he'll be our next president. Can you imagine the cabinet's sessions?

Unfortunately, yes I can. That's why I don't like him, he sure is kind of a politician... gonna be ironic, with all his songs about that. He wouldn't be the first "artist" getting to be a president or something like that. But he is old for that isn't he? Nah, I don't want to talk about that. Yes, I don't like "Salsa" alone, I like lyrcs musicians, I like stories in the songs. Like Maestra vida etc.
