Hmmmm. I on the other hand feel like a sophisticated urbanite stumbling into a regressed backwater.

However, I have my own techniques to keep focused on real relevancy.
POEM BY STAN LAUREL
God bless all clowns.
Who star in the world with laughter,
Who ring the rafters with flying jest,
Who make the world spin merry on its way.
God bless all clowns.
So poor the world would be,
Lacking their piquant touch, hilarity,
The belly laughs, the ringing lovely.
God bless all clowns.
Give them a long good life,
Make bright their way—they’re a race apart!
Alchemists most, who turn their hearts’ pain,
Into a dazzling jest to lift the heart.
God bless all clowns.

It’s not a bad question really. Why would anyone become interested in either Guénon or Evola?

My first essay at an answer would be along the lines of when someone..................
Let me stop you there. :|
Let us suppose that one did honestly understand that one was in a ruined state.
Fine, but please suppose it without my participation.
But in your case, Harbal, similar to Gary: you will go to your grave exactly as you are! You have no Higher Ideal.
Why would we bother telling you about our ideals?
It’s that simple really. How did this come about?!?
It's no good asking me? :?

An atheist is not someone who positively asserts the non-existence of God; but someone who is simply not a negative theist.

No word can define God, or every word defines God.

God is a human concept. In the beginning was the one who is called the Word. The Word was with God and was truly God.

Many different definitions may be offered of the word 'God'. Given this fact, atheism makes a much stronger claim than theism does. The atheist says that no matter what definition you choose, 'God exists' is always false. The theist only claims that there is some definition which will make 'God exists' true.

What is 'God' anyway but your own conscious self, an instruction from self to self, your own prescription to yourself, you self-imbibe as described, or defined by you.

Note to AJ: You're welcome for the advice I gave. I commend you for taking it. I won't even charge you for it. It's free, compliments of "the house".

Regarding masturbation, I've been addicted to the feeling since I was in elementary school and the "Physical Education" instructor insisted we climb a very large knotted rope attached to the ceiling in gym class. (This was pre-puberty--before anything actually came out when I did that) That's a very long time for my brain to wire itself to deal with life. I've tried abstinence at times, but the best I can do is go for relatively brief periods without it. If I had a girlfriend or wife, then I'd probably just pester her all the time. I figure finding a nympho would be my best bet, but I don't expect any woman to become addicted to sex just to be with me. Such is life. I assume your advice is for me to either fix myself or stay out of situations where I can do harm to others. On that account, I've done my best but I'm certainly not perfect, let alone "acceptable".

BTW, there is here, only the BELOVED, UNCONDITIONALLY FREE.

If anyone was wondering, nevermind, those that mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind.

You might be made up of nothingness, but you still matter, according to science.

Thank the proverbial "God" for science then. At least perhaps I matter to them, then?

What you do, or don't do, whether you remain alive or drop dead: all of this is 100% irrelevant to me.

I reiterate: this is (technically) a philosophy forum where (technically) the most important issues relative to life are discussed. No one person has relevance here, these are not personal issues, but rather here one deals (optimally) on larger ideas. The more the ideas are focused on, the better.

Additional Note: According to you there is no 'fixing you'.

For this reason you are a topic, but are not an agent in any sense.

Why do you want to fix me? Is there a clear need to? Have I done something wrong? Polutted the forum in some way? Please point out where I have been wrong in something I posted. I will be happy to either acknowledge my wrong or else tell you why I said what I said.

Are you one of those who goes around with the moniker: "The gene pool could use a little chlorine?" I've seen someone before use that in their signature line. I didn't like it so I freaked out when I saw his sig. But I can't change someone's mind if that's what they want to believe. He needs to do that for himself, unless it is his wish to play God and tell people who should and shouldn't live and thrive. If I ever see him again, I'll probably give it another try to change him to what I consider a better outlook (agnosticism). But I won't freak out any more about it. He's welcome to believe what he wants. If the Earth is too crowded then I'm happy to be the first off. Get rid of me but I'm not going to do it for you. All I ask is that you do so as painlessly as possible and with no premonition on my part about when it's going to happen. I have chosen very carefully not to have children. It's just me and I will go without a fight if anyone decides they want to "whack" me (in words common to those who quote from movies like the "Godfather").

You are totally wrong.

I have turned, or better still I am turning, sheer pretension into an art form. If I have not yet achieved that please tell me and I will improve. My war is against mediocrity!
why should I care any differently for you?
In my opinion you should not. But make your own choices.

What is wrong with "mediocrity"? Is there a pressing need for me to be something else? And if so, why do you think so? And how will preventing me from masturbating accomplish that pressing need?
