Thanks for the reminder, SOB. "Close to the Edge" is one of my favourite albums of all time and yet I haven't played it in years. I've got it on right now, even as we speak, and Yes indeed, it's still a timeless work.

Do you think would it be competition or upsmanship if I would post a Shirley Bassey tune or a bossa nova that I like?

The Godfather is a movie, Technics makes turntables, and green goes with red at Christmas.
Not everything's about you, and this was for the music (my love). That you noticed it might only be for your edification, your choice.
Thanks for the FYI: as to the Godfather, I was playing with you, as to Technics, I was too lazy to look up the spelling and decided to use the word that I believed they were playing with when coming up with their name, as to Christmas colors, I'm glad you added to the festive nature of this time, thanks.
Not that you necessarily care, but I fixed the lyrics rounds section in the "I Get Up, I Get Down" section, the formating made me dizzy. Jon's is on the left (plain) while Chris's part is on the right (italicized). Sorry about the jumbled first exposure to a ProgRock Classic, I had a brain fart!
Leo! Glad I helped rekindle one of your loves, I hope the wall of sound washed over and embraced you as surely they intended. Of course the entire album is wonderful, "And You and I" & "Siberian Kahtru," wow! The album was a ProgRock masterpiece IMHO. Yes was in fact my favorite band for many years after I heard them play "Close to the Edge" on their "Tales from Topographic Oceans" tour in 1974. I was higher than a kite, MJ my choice, but our next door fan offered a wine skin filled with wine spiked with LSD, as Yes would sing, on their upcoming Relayer album, "I felt the sound!" It was the most beautiful concert experience to that date, and for many years to follow. And please don't underestimate Yes's contribution, as I wasn't really that far gone, actually just right, as I could vividly remember everything the next day!

Nothing at all like the subsequent Black Sabbath concert. I seriously regret some of my overindulgences, many attributed to spirits.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it, PEACE, my friend!

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be, SOB, but the acid rock of that era came at just the right time for a young man on a resolute road to contrarianism. They were good times which I still recall with great fondness and although it was the British bands who were leading the charge in terms of musical creativity it was also the protest music of the American West Coast counter-culture scene which had a great influence on me. When these revelations come to you at just the right time in your life they leave a lasting impression even as the imperatives of the real world ultimately blunt the edges of the associated radicalism. I even dug out my triple album live set of Woodstock yesterday for a trip down memory lane. What a pathetic old fucker I've turned into, heh?

Thanks Imp, but that one is already on my playlist!
Here are the lyrics for those that want a preview prior to linking:
When I was small I believed in Santa Claus
Though I knew it was my dad
And I would hang up my stocking at Christmas
Open my presents and I'd be glad
But the last time I played Father Christmas
I stood outside a department store
A gang of kids came over and mugged me
And knocked my reindeer to the floor
They said:
Father Christmas, give us some money
Don't mess around with those silly toys.
We'll beat you up if you don't hand it over
We want your bread so don't make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys
Don't give my brother a Steve Austin outfit
Don't give my sister a cuddly toy
We don't want a jigsaw or monopoly money
We only want the real McCoy
Father Christmas, give us some money
We'll beat you up if you make us annoyed
Father Christmas, give us some money
Don't mess around with those silly toys
But give my daddy a job 'cause he needs one
He's got lots of mouths to feed
But if you've got one, I'll have a machine gun
So I can scare all the kids down the street
Father Christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
We'll beat you up if you don't hand it over
We want your bread so don't make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys
Have yourself a merry merry Christmas
Have yourself a good time
But remember the kids who got nothin'
While you're drinkin' down your wine
Father Christmas, give us some money
We got no time for your silly toys
Father Christmas, please hand it over
We'll beat you up, so don't make us annoyed
Father Christmas, give us some money
Don't mess around with those silly toys
We'll beat you up if you don't hand it over
We want your bread so don't make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys
Here you go, my friend, PEACE!:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t9yAeLjxvY
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the VIRGIN BIRTH
I remember one Christmas morning
A winters light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas Tree smell
AND EYES full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a Silent Night
And they told me a fairy story
'Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in Father Christmas
And I looked to the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise
I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave New Year
All anguish pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell
The Christmas we get we deserve
ELP Awesome!

I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas (War is Over, if you want it, war is over now)repeat with verse
For weak and for strong
The rich and the poor ones
The road is so long
So happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas (War is over, if you want it, war is over now) repeat with verse
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
And we hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over, if you want it
War is over now
Merry Christmas
Happy Christmas
