Why do people always say 'you can flip burgers'??? Don't denigrate the burger-flippers. It's not that easy to get a job doing that either!!The Voice of Time wrote:MacDonalds is my nightmare... stressing, low pay and dull beyond my wildest dreams...thedoc wrote:VoT you could always flip burgers, it would be better than starving, I'm sure they would let you eat anything that fell on the floor.
else some corner place could be less dull, where you actually talk to the customers for instance, but haven't seen much of those jobs on the market

Re: Searching for a job
know that last one... so much business and marketing and sales jobs in this country right now (including engineering jobs, lots of). Jobs like flipping burgers is getting scarce these days.
Re: Searching for a job
You are looking for a simple job to make money - it'll come, could be anything, just get out there and grab something. Don't worry what. But what would you really really like to engage your lifetime with most of all? Have a family? Research? Mountain climbing? List ten (no need to post them up). Align them in order of priority and go through them everyday, devoting time to each. Create one or two actions for the top three, which are practical in attaining the aims, and continue the action for a week for each one, before adjusting the action, or revising the list. Doing this helps to align the passions in your life with the practical basic needs of day to day life, which may be too disassociated from your larger self.
You might decide you want to do something that has to do with time: bus-conductor, making metronomes. Write a script for Doctor Who and send it to them. I actually know someone who had his script selected for an episode. Be daring. If your mind tells you you're insufficient, its not your real mind!

hmmm... sounds like something taken out of Eckhart Tolle's books that last one
or some other self-improvement book
Everything from police who suspect you wrongly of being a bad person or others who let their anger onto you for not being a proper person having a job and making a home like everybody else.
Well I'm not. Unfortunately I'm not in any position to work that way. Though I was kinda happy sometimes when I walked about, but then again I also had some moments I didn't like, such as the way some people treat you like garbage and you know from having heard it all your life that living outside of society is bad and when I meet people who treat you like garbage then I remember those things inside me and feel bad.reasonvemotion wrote:I have no money, no resources, no hopes, I am the happiest man alive.

VOT
You are only twenty years old.
OK, I am going to add to this.
Anyone who is different, doesn't agree with the norm, suffers the same fate as you are experiencing now. What changes, if you are lucky, you will find a few people who think the same way you do and you will cherish those few. VOT, if I thought I was like those people, (the one's who are negative,) I would be unhappy. You will realise gradually, that being "different" is a jewel, (although it can cause loneliness sometimes), if you don't already realise that. The only advice I would give you, is to find work or go back to school, because you need money. Whether you like the idea or not, it is here to stay and it can and does give you a sort of freedom. I am not advocating "the love of money" just the "use for it". For example, more travel, different countries, new people.

You make me feel sad VOT. You have good English skills for a second language, a lot better than many who have it as a first. Could you teach it?

Henry Miller was an American writer.
He wrote the Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn (and others) and if you like movies, his life story is on DVD called Henry and June. A fantastic movie!

not really, I don't know formal English. I don't know grammar, I only do whatever works. I could teach one-to-one tuition, but it would be through use and not through "schooling". I would probably end up some strange school-teachers, forcing my students to play computer games and write on internet forumsvegetariantaxidermy wrote:You make me feel sad VOT. Your grammar isn't too bad at all, a lot better than most Americans. The Voice of Time wrote:not really, I don't know formal English. I don't know grammar, I only do whatever works. Re: Searching for a job
Getting out there and making an account for yourself and working for others means lessening focus on yourself and your self-concerns, unless you have had an inheritance or won money there is no other way. It means doing things that grate on your lazy, fixed self. There is nothing that shakes up the cobwebs like doing things under instruction from others. I'm just offering an example toward that with something that makes you have to fit to a pattern not of your own invention or pleasing ways. Any job makes us have to relate and act in ways we don't like. My brother decided he was different at twenty - too different for society. Now he is lost in his private filthy poverty trap with no way out. Don't fall for the difference myth, its an escape. None of us are that special. Sorry to preach. The Voice of Time wrote:hmmm... sounds like something taken out of Eckhart Tolle's books that last oneor some other self-improvement book

Indeed. Don't confuse being "special" or "different" with laziness.Bernard wrote:Getting out there and making an account for yourself and working for others means lessening focus on yourself and your self-concerns, unless you have had an inheritance or won money there is no other way. I disagree with you Bernard. It depends if the example I give you, would persuade you, which I doubt. But it is almost akin to presenting the bible as to presenting psychology to some. There are different personalities, which you will agree with, but there are people who are in the minority. My personality is INFJ, making up an estimated 1% of all people, and are the most rare type (males even more so). They are introspective and complex people, do you know how difficult that is to find someone compatible with you. OK, I hear what you are all saying, but shit happens.Getting out there and making an account for yourself and working for others means lessening focus on yourself and your self-concerns, unless you have had an inheritance or won money there is no other way. Re: Searching for a job
real poverty doesn't exist in my country except by constantly choosing so, but you can easily choose to get out of it. The social structure is such that any job could easily make you 3000 euros a month, and if you fail to deliver big loans then it's the banks problem and not yours, and you'll be prohibited from borrowing money and maybe get in jail but it's like 2-3 years in and then out again free even if it was 10 millions you borrowed ^^
I'm gonna go to the other extreme and say we are all different
But there is such a thing as conformity and non-conformity to social norms. And for some those norms fits and for others not. Sooner or later I'll find a solution, either because it drops down from heaven or because I find some place that just works out, but that doesn't help me right now. And nobody actually answered my original question ^^
Standard working hours here
