Richard M. Nixon: [to a portrait of Kennedy] When they look at you, they see what they want to be. When they look at me, they see what they are.

But what we can do, as flawed as we are, is still see God in other people, and do our best to help them find their own grace. That's what I strive to do, that's what I pray to do every day.

JC is a twat.
eg." An artist cannot speak about his art any more than a plant can discuss horticulture."
Jean Cocteau
This comes from a man who spend his whole life doing just that.
And let's take this BS; "An original artist is unable to copy. So he has only to copy in order to be original."
- Self evident nonsense.
"I am a lie who always speaks the truth."
Oh yeah!

The person is not so important here, for me at least, it is the quote itself and what it might mean and can do in the mind of another.
Saying that, your examples have made me like JC more. Life is a contradiction.
Contradiction is not a sign of falsity, nor the lack of contradiction a sign of truth. - Blaise Pascal

Well that is your problem.
Life cannot be a contradiction because it was never a statement in the first place. It has always been what it is: Life.

With reference to Obama's quote; it makes me realise how empty and useless quotes can be when compared with the actions of the originator or user of the quote.

I used to be quite active on a game-related forum, and I am new to this one. Just amazed at the difference audience, here, as I am sure the other one, with the same thread title would be filled with Yoda or Tony Montana quotes. In fact haven't seen a single movie quote, yet.
My contribution:
"Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" - Shakespeare
"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man." - Mark Twain
