Interestingly, CNN has not been reporting ANYTHING from France, apparently...
Gee...I wonder why...?
Seems like a major event.
Seems like it has major international importance.
Seems like other news organizations are on the case.
What's with CNN? Are they just badly staffed and couldn't afford any French correspondents? Did they not know? Have they given up reporting news?

Uh, just like with Fox, you need to specify it is world news you want to see. Otherwise focus is very US.
But in any case, for stories about what is going on in Europe you'd want new organizations closer. Try
Deutsche Welle

New hypothesis: CNN doesn't want you to know about it.

"French mayor shield students..." as if the cops are the problem, and "Are they listening enough," as if the rioters are making some sort of reasoned appeal, rather than burning their own schools.
Interesting "coverage," that.

Oh look, the goalposts have fucked off over the horizon again.

I've heard that the French police are using stun grenades and rubber bullets on rioters. I've also heard rumors that there are some undisclosed individuals among rioters who are instigating violence on the part of rioters. Some think that those undisclosed individuals could be "socialist" agitators. It may be just as likely to be foreign agents who are instigating the riots. Unfortunately, the Russians seem to be doing a lot of covert messing with Europe. Of course, the US does that too to other countries.
Maybe we should all stop causing trouble for each other. That would be the best possible world. But unfortunately, some in the world are not in positions where they can be sympathetic to the powers that be. And it may be difficult to persuade them otherwise, for understandable reasons.

By the way, I get my news mostly from NPR (National Public Radio) which Trump calls "fake news". The commercial networks on local TV are not covering world news much, and there are many sources on the Internet that spread false narratives. NPR has a good network of communication among reporters around the world, and I think they keep me reasonably well informed.

Well, the Communist flags seem to be a dead giveaway, just like the Hamas flags and the other foreign flags. Maybe that's fake, but maybe not.

It wouldn't be the first time.

Well, it's very strange. People who claim to be acting on behalf of "students" burn schools and throw gasoline on teachers: not exactly an intellectual activity, nor very productive of better education. A peaceful, verbal march would achieve the same profile, but with much more productive results. This seems to be mostly about burning, looting, destroying, pillaging and maiming. One wonders what "point" is supposed to come across.
And now there are riots in Spain, in France, in Belgium, and right-wing militants springing up in Scotland. Even the IRA has now returned, but with a declared new concern, one not any longer focused on the English.
But strangely, no riots in places like Poland and Hungary yet. One wonders why...

Except I would not consider the Communist flag a foreign flag in France. The French Communist Party (PCF) has a long tradition, founded 1920. And while Ho Chi Minh was one of the founders, that doesn't make it foreign (think of French colonial history)
These days the PCF operates as part of the NFP popular front in parliament. On its own, about 2% voter support (the NFP totals about 25%)

I didn't say it was. Unlike Hamas flags, it doesn't represent a country...but more of a vast human tragedy that transcends any particular nation. But it does suggest what's perhaps really behind these riots.
"Students"? "Education problems"? Then why the flags? Why the burning schools? Why gasoline thrown on teachers? Why bust up bus stops, or loot stores? Why attack police? Why not just march peacefully, and thereby demonstrate the capacity for intelligent action and warranting of better funding?

No more City of Lights attracting brilliance.
I'd say for a hundred years after 1850 or so, the art beacon for Americans. The place to be.

Vichey collaborators of old were probably more concerned with if and how their bread was buttered, than any kind of ideology based on dying on the cross of morality.
What I heard somewhere in passing is that after the big one, France imported labour from Africa to rebuild, with the intent of those folks returning to the homeland. Who would do that? Instead, they hunkered down for the long haul in their own communities in France, since they weren’t really part of the mainstream. Generations later, folks in those communities figure it’s time for a change. Maybe a new boss in town, to make a new town. Can you imagine the renovated Notre Dame being converted to some other religion? At the celebration of the post-fire renovation, Biden famously said, I thought we were going to a football game. (Don't panic, it's a joke)
A similar situation is festering in the USA, and whatever tries to stop it is the villain. Realistically, ICE induced paranoia as a method of voluntary deportation for tens and tens of millions may be as futile as trying to change the climate, or stop the climate from naturally changing.

LOL, of course I can. After all, Notre Dame itself took over the site of a pagan temple. The "Pillar of the Boatmen" (what we have of it) found when constructing one of the crypts. It is rather common for religions to reuse/repurpose holy sites. WTF do you think all the fuss over the "Temple Mount" in Jerusalem is all about.

That was then.
Being converted is in the future, after which it becomes now.
If you're a non-determinist, then neither the future, nor now, is then.
I've noticed your shtick is to toss in a ration of dreamed-up accusation into every posting.
A bit of wit along with expressing that need would at least entertain.
