Like now… you’re away for a couple of weeks, log in, see some new interesting topics and go to the last post. Only to see like 4 page of two combattants building a drone view pyramid of p*nis measurement. Not least common in armchair Philosophy forums. One would really like to take part in whatever aspect of the question that one find interesting. But any such earlier post are buried 15 pages back. Probably unfixable but who knows.
I do not understand your concern about particular poster's view of anything, what does that have to do with a one on one with the poster? Mental focus is at the foundation of a true philosopher, ignore the shit, unless you want to play with someone, but that is beside your focal point.
The thread of philosophy runs through a long history. When you search for that thread, and possibly find it, does it bother you that a commensurately long history of mankind never understood what was presented?

The aim of education is the modification of your behavior, your behavior is the only behavior you can actually change.

I don’t know if I got you right but my concern was more with “forum” as a technical format for one-with-many communication than with posters posting this or that.

If you have studied Plato, or even given it much thought, then you know, words, in of themselves, have absolutely no meaning. And, since the fundamentals of common grammar have not been met anywhere on earth, explain what you mean by . . .

Okay, a one on one is a conversation, a one with many is a lecture. What do you mean by communication? Our own senses communicate with us, words, on the other had, have conventions not yet met by mankind.

Do you know what subjective identification means? It has something to do with identity confusion.
Do you actually believe that you have met the criteria for communication, when that cannot be the case at all.

Talking rocks to boost the forum? That is like talking rocks, or astrology, to boost science.

If you find a fortune cookie, take out is not far away.

Last post last october...
Has there emerged any new interesting ways to talk philosophy online with other people interested in philosophy?

Welcome back! Well, for example, there is an online discussion on Zoom every second Thursday night. It is called Midnight Philosophy (because it is held at midnight UK time), and it is pretty good. The moderator Dr Anja Steinbauer gives a short talk on the advertised topic for about fifteen minutes, then after that she chairs a discussion for about 45 minutes. It usually attracts about 20 people, and because it is on Zoom those people are from all over the world.

Of course, midnight in the UK is 1:00 am in Scandinavia, but if you are an insomniac it might work well. It's free but you have to sign up in advance on Meetup to get the link: https://www.meetup.com/london-philosoph ... 312816268/

Was that the sort of thing you had in mind?

(p.s. This week's meeting is going to be Hell. I don't mean it will be a bad meeting, I mean that the topic will be "Hell").
