What if "horror" is God?
The worship gene (innate proclivity) can attach attention to anything or anyone, including thrills and chills that require continuous escalation right up to a horrorshow life. However, the attention made possible by the miracle of a precious and rare life co-arising with form ... deserves* an object worthy of life, which puts God at the top of the hierarchy heap.
* "Deserves" in the sense of naturally occurring, prioritizing of attention as thinking matures and the "I" of "AM" expands, to Soli Deo Gloria.

If God is omnipresent than he is an everpresent cause thus the hierarchy ceases in many respects and in turn results in concentric rings where he is not at at the top but at the center and each ring is the center of other rings given infinite rings within and without.
Experience is the power which directs action, God is the central experience of existence.
