Compare the full clips of both. A nazi solute isn't just a single moment in time, it's an entire motion.
Looking at a clip of Elon Musk and judging from the force exerted in his gestures, they look unequivocally like gestures signaling great admiration or devotion. The German elite as well as many of the German people were very devoted to Hitler too of course. As far as it being equivalent, I guess we'll have to see what happens. It doesn't seem to me that pulling out of the WHO and the Paris climate accords are steps in the right direction. And mass deportation of undocumented immigrants is probably going to break up a lot of families and is going to cause a lot of people a lot of suffering.
For the record, I have no stance on the question "Is Musk a Nazi?" I'm not an expert on what it takes to qualify as a contemporary Nazi, nor do I care to be.
Regardless of whether he IS a nazi, I think he knowingly and deliberately did a nazi salute. He's a billionaire who has been on TV, radio, podcasts for years now, many many times. He has media training. He has cultural awareness. He knows what a nazi salute is and he knows why he probably shouldn't do it.
I don't think he did a nazi salute because he IS a nazi. I think he did a nazi salute because he's a troll who thought it would be funny. He foresaw that if he did that and said "I throw my heart out to you" or whatever dumb bullshit he did, his detractors would clutch their pearls and call him a nazi and his supporters would say "oh no, he wasn't doing that, see he said that thing about his heart." He thought the turmoil that would sprout from his salute would be funny.
And he's right, it is funny.
But there's no question at all that it was a deliberate nazi salute.
It was just weird. I have no idea what was in his head at the time. Perhaps nothing. I doubt very much if it was Hitler. Has anyone asked him what his gesture meant?

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk against accusations of making a Nazi salute. Netanyahu took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his support for Musk, stating, "Elon Musk is being falsely smeared. Elon is a great friend of Israel. He visited Israel after the October 7 massacre in which Hamas terrorists committed the worst atrocity against the Jewish people since the Holocaust." He added, "He has since repeatedly and forcefully supported Israel’s right to defend itself against genocidal terrorists and regimes who seek to annihilate the one and only Jewish state. I thank him for this."
The King of America said that it's not a Nazi-salute... so all you American Evangelical (((Protestant))) Goys better heed your LORD's response wisely.
Also Hamas-supporters like
Diarrhea Pants should shush-up and quit defaming Veg.

What makes a gesture a "Nazi salute" isn't the gesture technique, it's the intention of the salute.

Intention is indicated by who the salute is addressing. For Nazis, it was Hitler. For Musk, it was the people.
If he does the gesture to Trump, watch out.

I see you didn't link to the actual video clips. Instead you just made up silly excuses.
Elon musk is doing a game. It's called "how hilarious will it be if I do a nazi salute but pretend like it was a 'my heart goes out to you' gesture?" People like you are falling for it.

He knows what he's doing. He's autistic, sure, so am I, so is my dog. Me and my dog both know what Nazi salutes are, and we both know not to do it in serious contexts.
He wasn't doing a 'my heart goes out to you' gesture because that gesture doesn't exist, that's not like some well known gesture that just happens to look like a nazi salute. He did a nazi salute because he thought it would be funny. We don't need to play stupid. Autistic people are not stupid.

He made this interesting tweet in the aftermath.

The most natural interpretation of his tweet is what I've been saying all along - he knew exactly what he was doing (let me reiterate, autistic people are not retarded, he's aware of history lol, he's had media training), and he did it as a troll because he thought it would be funny.
Pretending like he didn't know what he was doing is just a hard cope.

They merged autism and Aspergers in 2013 even though they are clearly two different conditions.. That's about as incorrect as merging sociopathy and psychopathy.

If the U.S. Constitution were ever to transform into a constitutional dictatorship, they would start saluting each other.

They force children to do that every morning--to a piece of cloth. Frankly I think that's what's wrong with the place.

Musk and Trump aren't friends, or allies they are competitors and Musk wants to make sure Vance replaces Trump at the most profitable time rather than when Trump dies. Musk stole Trump's limelight by doing a very blatant nazi salute at Trump's big party, and the point of it was just to steal all the headlines, and it worked. Now Trump wants to steal them back so he's doing as much mad shit as he possibly can all day every day.

So the basis of your analysis of psychological motivation is mere
attention-seeking? Aren't you projecting here, your own insecurities and vanity? Everything to you, is about Fame and the Limelight?

I doubt if even Musk knows 'why' he did it, but he was 'determined' to do it anyway so why bother speculating? Personally I think he was overcome with the thought of going to Mars. That's all he seems to care about when it comes to his 'soon to be non-friend' Trump.
