I’m grateful to Atto and this thread for prompting me to read more about Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. He is indeed a more politically complex figure than many of his detractors will admit. I have been following news of Tommy Robinson for a long time.
I understand Robinson was quite rough in his early years but have since changed with age.

What is contributive from Robinson is his exposure of the evil of the religion based on his own personal experiences and observations.
Unfortunately it is difficult for Robinson to get his message [which is true of what is going on in UK] across due to his somewhat awkward [not so refined or polished] disposition from his 'cockney' background.

Re the your last point, you should make an attempt to read both sides of the story.
Robinson as a journalist was reporting what the mother had told him.
