Word salad? I think so.
For the discussion of all things philosophical.

DAM's point is relevant even when your stepping into the river more than once is a thought experiment.
Superb point ya make there mon ami! Our system (sensu latissimo) is long overdue for an overhaul.Eodnhoj7 wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 9:46 pmAnd that depends on the definition of 'meaning' and we are left with an indefinite regress that leads us back to nothing.Agent Smith wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 1:57 amCogito it's a good argument, but it depends on what existence means; plus the situation one would havta be in for the argument ta be good is real as real can be. Yes it is...the old system just doesn't work.Agent Smith wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 7:35 amSuperb point ya make there mon ami! "Is it absurd? Yes. Does it make it any less true? No."
"Energy" is just another word for it. You can us "The Tao" or "God" or whatever.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 5:50 pm Ultimate reality is a place of no things, being just ENERGY. It is a dreamy moving not quiet thing, only the illusion is the grasp of the ring.
The Tao is a way of being and God is a religious concept, this is more aligned with understanding the nature of reality. At one time physicists looked for the stuff of which everything was made. only to find that matter is not made of matter, it is all energy.Eodnhoj7 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 11:22 pm"Energy" is just another word for it. A religious concept (belief) guides our actions (A way of being).
Distinctions between the two can be blurred under the premise: "all is one".
If you consider experience/knowledge/meaning belief, yes. Religions, however are systems founded upon a very abstract concepts, and a system of how one should live in the world as discipline/beliefs are also systems. Religions are systems made up of our knowledge and ignorance, which makes ignorance sacred. I really don't think there is any such thing a nothingness, at least as it is commonly understood. Ways of being based on certain beliefs as to the benefits are creative systems, biological extensions and expressions of our humanity.commonsense wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 2:04 pmA way of being is a style not a belief.Eodnhoj7 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 11:28 pmA way of being is a belief.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 1:54 am

So you think it’s a tautology!popeye1945 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 12:01 amIf you consider experience/knowledge/meaning belief, yes. Depends, the vast space of the cosmos were once thought the great nothingness. Perhaps that is where the heading of this thread got the idea, for it turns out the empty space is the great caldron of creation.commonsense wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 1:05 amSo, you think it’s tautology!popeye1945 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 12:01 amIf you consider experience/knowledge/meaning belief, yes. Nothingness ≠ No-thingnesschowkit74 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 6:54 am Nothingness ≠ No-thingness
No-thingness = Emptiness = Zero (0)
Zero (0) ≠ Nothing
Zero = an expression of equilibrium; e.g. -2+2 = 0. There are entities: -2 and +2, in the math equation.
Empty ≠ Nothing
No-thingness = Frozen energy, just like a frozen star, i.e. a black hole,
Space = an expression for energy.
No space = no energy in vibrating or rotating motions.
