The ego is abstract. An illusion is a deceptive appearance. What appearance does the ego have? The ego cannot kill itself but it can go to sleep.

The ego is a driver. It drives a person to strive. Without an ego a person would be driven by his ID.

The ego is just an idea, it's a 'thought' a movement of mind within pure stillness.

The mind that is believed to be ''me'' is a mentally constructed magician trying to fool itself into thinking that it exists.

It's a known concept, an appearance within the dream of consciousness. Dreamt by no one. Dreamer and dream are ONE
