Assert that the sun is bright.
How is that inherently empty?
Because the brightness of the sun cannot be observed without another context through which it contrasts (the sky or ground in this case). If all you see is the brightness of the sun, without comparison to anything else, then you are effectively looking at nothing as without contrast no form occurs.
If is like seeing a circle without the inner or outerspace; it would no longer appear as a circle but a boundless field.

Assertions are judgments based upon one's experiences, and experiences are the effects the physical world has upon ones biology. Assertions are not empty they are the means of communication between members of our common biology. It lends credibility to the saying, that truth to the group is agreement, while truth to the individual is personal experience.
