How could you be happy in Heaven when your loved one are in hell?

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

According to Christianity, ALL non-Christians, i.e. those who did not surrender to Jesus as son of God will go to hell.

You are the glaring evidence as a proof to my theory that theism is very psychological.
That is why you are so shaken to vulgarity and getting very emotional when you perceive [consciously or subliminally] a threat to your belief; therefrom throwing all rational discussions out of the window and resort to intellectual aggression and vulgarity.

I don't have a specific verse in the Gospels but the context from various verses point to the general view that if one is a non-Christian, one will go to hell.
Here is one sample of my point amongst the many one can search in google.
Note the article quote various verses in arriving at the following conclusion;
Those who enter heaven do so not on the basis of merit, but on the basis of God’s grace as bestowed by Jesus Christ. We can’t work our way to heaven or claim to be without sin (1 John 1:8). Instead, we must humbly submit to God, turn from our wrong behavior, and turn to Christ for salvation.
https://www.focusonthefamily.com/faith/ ... to-heaven/
A non-Christian do not submit to God via Jesus, thus no salvation. In general if one do not attain salvation via Christ to eternal life in heaven, then one would be in hell, i.e. described as follow;
The most common New Testament term translated as "Hell" is γέεννα (gehenna), a direct loan of Hebrew גהנום/גהנם (ge-hinnom). Apart from one use in James 3:6, this term is found exclusively in the synoptic gospels.[17][18][19] Gehenna is most frequently described as a place of punishment (e.g., Matthew 5:22, Matthew 18:8-9; Mark 9:43-49); other passages mention darkness and "weeping and gnashing of teeth" (e.g., Matthew 8:12; Matthew 22:13).[18]

Apart from the use of the term gehenna (translated as "Hell" or "Hell fire" in most English translations of the Bible; sometimes transliterated, or translated differently)[20][21][22] the Johannine writings refer to the destiny of the wicked in terms of "perishing", "death" and "condemnation" or "judgment". Paul speaks of "wrath" and "everlasting destruction" (cf. Romans 2:7-9; 2 Thessalonians), while the general epistles use a range of terms and images including "raging fire" (Hebrews 10:27), "destruction" (2 Peter 3:7), "eternal fire" (Jude 7) and "blackest darkness" (Jude 13). The Book of Revelation contains the image of a "lake of fire" and "burning sulphur" where "the devil, the beast, and false prophet" will be "tormented day and night for ever and ever" (Revelation 20:10) along with those who worship the beast or receive its mark (Revelation 14:11).[23]

The New Testament also uses the Greek word hades, usually to refer to the abode of the dead (e.g., Acts 2:31; Revelation 20:13).[6] Only one passage describes hades as a place of torment, the parable of Lazarus and Dives (Luke 16:19-31). Jesus here depicts a wicked man suffering fiery torment in hades, which is contrasted with the bosom of Abraham, and explains that it is impossible to cross over from one to the other. Some scholars believe that this parable reflects the intertestamental Jewish view of hades (or sheol) as containing separate divisions for the wicked and righteous.[6][23] In Revelation 20:13-14 hades is itself thrown into the "lake of fire" after being emptied of the dead.

WTF .. I did not make any BOLD statement like,
God in the Gospel commanded and threatened in Verse XX that those who are not a Christian will be sent to Hell.
Rather what I did was making a general statement and now I have provided the evidences from one [there are many] Christian source to support it.

Btw, check your personal psychology on this matter that involved some negatives to your belief re theism.

Really? So the following is from some conjecture and personal belief in the Christian faith, rather than based on Christian doctrine (the bible)
Veritas Aequitas wrote:According to Christianity, ALL non-Christians, i.e. those who did not surrender to Jesus as son of God will go to hell.
THAT'S a rather bold statement right there.

Sum up, in a sentence where your statement that Christ insists that ALL non-Christians will go to hell is part of the Christian doctrine.

Hello bahman,
thank you for clarifying your OP.

Though some do speak of “burning in eternal hell” in an afterlife, it is not uncommon - when at all speaking of it as a place and not as a state of consciousness, that is - to view “being in Hell” as a temporary transition-period, where a soul experiences all the suffering it contributed to whiles embodied on earth, in order to wilfully understand and repent and thereby be able to (re)ascend to Heaven, where all souls originally belong.

From that point of view I’d have to say that if my child for instance, had led an evil life, contributing to much suffering in others and had died without ever understanding or repenting the damage they had caused, they would have to go through Hell to ever get to Heaven, yes.

But, valid to your question is this: if Heaven is a condition where the soul dwells in peace, and we assume that souls maintain their individuality in Heaven in an afterlife (I don’t believe that btw, but let’s see where this takes us), I could not per definition be in Heaven (i.e. at peace), knowing that my child had led an evil life, contributing to the suffering of others without understanding or repenting the damage they caused.

As their parent, I will partly have been responsible for how they turned out and even if in my lifetime I had come to understand and repent my role in that, and therefore not gone to hell in death but rather in life; I would dwell in hell again when they themselves were suffering through it.

And that, I suppose would be like “burning in eternal hell”...

Good thing I don’t believe that souls retain their individuality in Heaven then!

Heaven and Hell are imposed conditions born of the human mind. The implications of such conditions are being played out in every moment.

No sentient being can be happy while others are suffering the hell of torment, torture, chronic pain, discomfort, physical and mental and emotional abuse, starvation, homelessness, etc etc...the list is endless...

All the above negatives are happening all the time relentlessly. Any intelligent human primate knows the difference between good and evil, right and wrong. Humans have the mental capacity, the experiential knowledge to work out that this game just really is not worth playing. Sadly, only 1% of us can ever think deeply enough into the dire situation, and really come to terms with what's really happening here.

We pretend to care about our children, yet at the same time we carry on giving birth to them, knowing what carnage can and often does await them. If we genuinely cared about our children and the adults they grow into, we would have by now adopted the moral sense to stop breeding them into existence.

Humans have the mentality ...what's in it for me, what's in it for me, what's in it for me....

Which is a hell in and of itself. And so on it continues, the hell of our own making. Heaven is a transient temporal pipedream, a pretend escape hatch from the real hell we create.

Dear Dontaskme

I am sorry to hear that your experiences have led you to such conclusions. It’s sounds, if not painful, then at least fatalistic.

Your is of course one way of looking at things and one can understand the logic behind the perspective you portray, but it may not harm you to also remember that there are other, equally valid ones (from sense of logic; just different to the logic you have chosen to apply) and that not all who don’t share your views, do so because they don’t bother or cannot “think deeply enough into” it and “come to terms with” what is.

I will not here illustrate an alternative view to yours, because I fear it would be somewhat wasted on someone so sure that they’ve got things right. Instead, I propose this:

Let us say that your perspective (on the world; not on others degree of depth or involvement) is true - that it is the truth even! Could holding the negative perception of and expectation from others that you give voice to in this thread, play a key role in why the world is as awful as it is...? (true question btw, no sarcasm intended).

Let us say that your perspective (on the world; not on others degree of depth or involvement) is true - that it is the truth even! Could holding the negative perception of and expectation from others that you give voice to in this thread, play a key role in why the world is as awful as it is...? (true question btw, no sarcasm intended).

My opinion does not play a key role at all. People will always choose to observe (what's really happening) from their own personal informed standpoint. BUT, the actual deeper rooted goings on in reality and what that means for sentient creatures is selfstanding, it's self-evident for ALL to see for themselves, if they so choose to see it.

If people choose to ignore what is blatently obvious, then so be it. People will just continue to play along with the pretence that life is just so amazing and they will continue to sing the lalalala happy, happy, joy joy song until the day they die, because to them, it's really really fun being thrown around on a broken rollercoaster.

As for me, it's just not fun, but since I'm here now, I don't have any choice but to continue living until nature says it's time to go bye bye.
Thankfully, we all die eventually, and that's the only relief and positive about being alive, the fact that it does come to an end.

Good morning, Dontaskme

I respect and do - to an extent - understand your viewpoint but you are not addressing the question I put to you, which of course is your right not to do. But it is a pity, because I can see how that perspective that you (and many others) hold, is a significant part in why the world is as “awful” as it is.

All and any change - individual or collective, big or small - begins from within.
