My thesis [as raised by others as well] is the cognition of a God is an illusion from a deception of the mind [a defense mechanism] to deal with some very desperate psychology driven by an inherent unavoidable existential crisis which I had grouped and labelled as from "zombie parasites."[/list]
Ah, but the cognition of a God is not the same as God. In other words, the belief in God is not the same as the existence of God.
God may be real even if the cognition of God is an illusion.
What you meant is 'perception' via the senses.
Yes, it is well understood generally, the 'perception' of a real apple on the table in the brain/mind is not the same as the real apple on a table which can be physically verified and eaten.
The problem with the idea of God is such God's existence cannot be verified at all.
I have proven the idea of God is an impossibility to be real.

Note the example of the schizophrenic who insist live gnomes are real because he 'really' had perceived and talked to them.
The idea of God is similar to the above albeit in a different degrees as compelled by zombie parasites in the brain.
Nonetheless, how could you determine that you are being deceived while, indeed, you are being deceived?
The brain/mind is deceiving the self all the time and it is a default.
Note I presented this;
Your brain hallucinates your conscious reality

However such hallucinations come in degrees and level.
In addition there are sub-levels of hallucination/deceptions, i.e. we have hallucinations-X within hallucination-Y.
To understand the above one will need to be educated with a wide knowledge based and use critical thinking extensively and aggressively.
For example;
1. Our normal conscious reality is a hallucination-CR, say a 5% hallucination.
2. Within hallucination-CR the self is further deceived by the brain/mind in the example of the face illusion [see below], mirage, and many other illusions.
