"Happy and pleased" is a poetic way of saying "Healthy and growing".
It's good advice IMO. Get the ecology in your garden in good shape and then you and yours will be living within a more pleasant and healthy immediate environment than otherwise. I try to avoid poisons and like to keep the garden replenished with viable waste organics to encourage bird life, bees, beetles and butterflies.

MRI for trees: an MRI-radio beam directed at the roots' centre at the "foot" of the tree. Then, the ordinary inferences...
We can start with 2 trees in a garden with a suitable distance apart. And go from there with trees further apart, 3 trees or more or any other set-up.
