Nowadays, it seems like people largely complain about 'PC culture' as a crutch to sound knowledgeable about something. In reality, they really just agree with the vast majority of people, and know just as little about substantive political fields which require actual research, like economic and foreign policies.

I would agree with you there's a problem of this being brought up too much online, but it's mostly from a vocal and very impassioned minority. I don't necessarily think this behavior is primarily born from America like some do, but the majority of the users on here with this behavior certainly seem to be americans. I'll give you that.
