This is a natural factor of living in a country that is at the same time destroying your own - how would you feel - how did the Japanese residents in the US feel after Pearl Harbour. The economic potential and life standard of living in the US is so strong for some that it outweighs all else (perhaps) even if that system is destroying your homeland - I often think how can you live in a country that is destroying yours - but then you see the life lived compared to your own - and you, for want of a better phrase - shut the fuck up - and go along - but maybe perhaps always not fully. At the end of the day it is the system that can do best for you and your family regardless of where you were born, that is king - for some, maybe most - you too see your own system wanting and with incessant US propaganda, pretty soon you forget about it all and focus on your immediate life as it exists locally - you become an American - you join the club, and in doing so, perhaps automatically begin to oppose the place and the system, from where you camecommonsense wrote:I'd like to return to the topic of Muslims in the West by raising a few questions relating to Muslims who are living in the U.S.
If I were living in a country that demonizes my culture, my values, my beliefs, my religion--if I were to find myself living under such conditions, how would I view the native residents, who have never faced such animus? Will I meet ignorance with ignorance, unpleasantness with unpleasantness, hate with hate? How will I know who will accept me and who will not? How will I understand why native people behave as they do? How can I, essentially a transplant from another world, understand the beliefs, values and culture of the native people?
I wonder what other questions you may have.
I don't think you've quite got the hang of how things work round here.commonsense wrote:I'd like to return to the topic of Muslims in the West
You've hit the nail on the head regarding how things work and my lack of understanding it. Can you give me any tips?Harbal wrote:I don't think you've quite got the hang of how things work round here.commonsense wrote:I'd like to return to the topic of Muslims in the West
