The Huffpo article attributes the phrase "technological unemployment" to some buy writing for The Atlantic. You might notice it actually comes from the 1930 Keynes essay I linked for you already (where it was made famous, not coined). I assume the guy at The Atlantic referenced it because he understands the history of this very long running idea that is not new at all. Perhaps his essay is worth reading, these others, maybe not so much.

Anybody whose reasoning goes AI takes all the jobs away so we have to replace all the jobs with UBI doesn't understand anything much of the last 3 centuries of economic change and is going to make predictable mistakes about the next century because of it.

Good article? Where the hell do you think that money is coming from? It's being extorted by the government from people whose only crime is earning an honest living by producing the goods and services that people getting the basic income want to buy.

The government, by law, is the one who makes the money which gets distributed through the Federal Reserve.

Since jobs are disappearing due to automation, then UBI is the only way.

All money belongs to the government. Take a look at a note in your pocket, if you have one.
You are confusing wealth with money, they are not the same thing.

Please, there will always be jobs, don't talk like the village idiot. Also, if money is not backed by actual merchandise, it's monopoly money worth absolutely nothing. You would do yourself a favor by staying away from the subject of economics altogether.

False. All jobs can be done by machines and even the maintenance of machines can be done by machines. UBI is the answer which has value for humans.

Sci-fi is pretty much dead as a popular genre but if you've been reading modern sci-fi then it's pretty covered all the concepts and issues already.

Political an economic bullshit. It's impossible.

Anyway, I bet humans destroy themselves, or at least most of them and the rest become a new specie, before basic income.
Stop thinking in your future pocket and look at Africa. That are usefull humans, they die, "nobody" cares. Why would someone care about useless humans? there are too many of them, and there will be more in the future. If they want to eat, and they are useless, don't expect charity, they'll steal and kill...

This isn't
state 1: nearly everybody has job an many people has some wealth. state 2. nobody has job and nobody has wealth,
It's progressive, but you are talking about a not gradual change at all.

And you are not thinking in technology for everybody, you are thinking in money. You can use internet technology for free, knowledge... it will be easier to make things on your own with robots and AI, unfortunately, even for nearly complely useless people who can only talk about politics and economy.
Who knows?

I do not have a donkey. If I did I'd keep it in a stable not in a hole.
