Why would having the same bloodline hinder population growth? I have not heard this before.
I base this on common knowledge about marrying close relatives and what that can do to our offspring.

Upon further research it looks like you're right so I concede this point to you.

I agree that close interbreeding can enhance certain genetic defects, some dealing with intelligence, but I was not aware of any effect on the ability to produce offspring.

I read up about what causes infertility. The man on the street says incest can cause that (plus deformities). I will keep researching until I get a scientific answer.

Does this suggest that Neanderthals were more attractive than we have hitherto thought of them as being?

In some programs it has been suggested that if you dress a Neanderthal in modern clothes you would not be able to pick him out in a crowd. Given the variability in appearance of modern humans, Neanderthals bore a very close resemblance to some modern homo sapiens.

Given the rate of population growth, I would have to agree with Dalek.

Now boys, don't make me give my rendition of 'Sunhine, Lollipops'. (It's pretty good, though.)

You just want me to explain my plans for world domination. Very clever, Mr. Bond. Very clever, indeed.

This is only a real problem over the long-term or if there are genetic defects already present.

Wow! "the man on the street", now who can argue with that really reliable source of information?
