If they were black reporters, murdered by a white, then you would simply 'use' it differently, probably to vilify Obama for mentioning it, or to somehow push your pro-gun agenda. According to the 'brilliant logic' of the pro-gun lobby, shootings like this are interpreted as a good reason to go out and get more guns. WTF do they put in your water over there?

The only reason this shooting even got into the news is because it happened on live television, not because it's in any way newsworthy. People dying at the hands of shitheads with guns happens all day and every day in every town and city in the USA. More people die from gun violence every month in the USA than the entire death tool from the 9/11 attack by al-Qaeda. Every second American is a fucking terrorist.

Walking up to people on the street and shooting them is wrong. The colour of the shooter and those shot doesn't change that.

There was a little more news here on this incident today where the shooter was described as a "disgruntled former employee". There was no mention of race as a possible motivation but one assumes that in the US this must always be a possible factor in any violence. What struck me as odd is the extent to which somebody can lose one's gruntle and still be able to legally own a firearm.

Just heard about this belatedly this morning when I caught the headline on my email provider. Haven't had the desire to watch whatever horrible videos may exist. A tragedy to be sure, but so is the quality of much mainstream journalism in the US. Families and friends of the murdered journalists have my condolences, though.
