Just to let you know, it's not the circumcision that makes the baby cry, it's the alcohol (don't know which type).vegetariantaxidermy wrote:People who have their babies circumcised obviously think torturing babies is justified.

I'll be happy to provide complimentary alcohol in vast quantities to all patients who present for circumcision surgery at my chainsaw clinic. However all such applicants must provide proof of age because performing such procedures on children who are unable to give informed consent is unethical conduct in the world according to Dr Leo.Philosophy Explorer wrote:Just to let you know, it's not the circumcision that makes the baby cry, it's the alcohol (don't know which type).vegetariantaxidermy wrote:People who have their babies circumcised obviously think torturing babies is justified.

How do we know this? There's no point in asking the kid when he's already got a vocabulary.Philosophy Explorer wrote:Just to let you know, it's not the circumcision that makes the baby cry, it's the alcohol (don't know which type).
You mean how does the person performing the circumcision know this since he's the one who made the statement? I'll do an internet search.Dubious wrote:How do we know this? Cut off a chunk of skin and you're definitely going to feel it. Applying a disinfectant like alcohol and that's enough pain to make anyone of the "Expendables" scream. But why alcohol? Why not some antibiotic cream so the poor kid doesn't go completely out of his mind? For many, misery commences early in life.Philosophy Explorer wrote:The internet is no help. I can say the doctor who did the surgery said it was the alcohol that was applied (presumably to an open wound) during the surgery that brought on the pain.

Since it was the doctor who performed the operation, you'll have to ask him (keep in mind that this happened over 30 years ago so knowledge may have been different back then).Dubious wrote:Cut off a chunk of skin and you're definitely going to feel it. No doubt things were different back then! But I didn't know it referred to events 30 years ago. Back then they said and did a lot of things now no-longer acknowledged. But pain is pain regardless of when.Philosophy Explorer wrote:Since it was the doctor who performed the operation, you'll have to ask him (keep in mind that this happened over 30 years ago so knowledge may have been different back then).Dubious wrote:Cut off a chunk of skin and you're definitely going to feel it. Any moron can justify any amount of evil; that does not make it justifiable.
Is intent a factor in describing torture?bobevenson wrote:Is torturing a baby ever justified? It must be since circumcision is done routinely.
For the procedure in question, I agree.Obvious Leo wrote:I'll be happy to provide complimentary alcohol in vast quantities to all patients who present for circumcision surgery at my chainsaw clinic.
