I think you would enjoy the book of "Job", give it a read and let me know what you think, especially of his "friends".Ned wrote:God did it probably to aggravate me, knowing that I wouldn't believe in him, so 'he' wanted to punish me.
Well, it worked -- they are swarming all over the place, there is no getting away from them!
Why did God create so many idiots?

I think you are correct, and it becomes more and more difficult for Christians to separate the Bible, from what is preached on the tube, and from the pulpit, and portrayed in the movies. Unfortunately I would submit that even the Bible has been corrupted by human scribes and translators who inject their own agendas into the scriptures.attofishpi wrote:Hi NedNed wrote:PS. Im interested in where you are getting this notion of God having infinite love for his creations, is that from the bible or did you here it on TV?

I am shocked!!!
Re: Why did God create so many idiots?
I tried to read the bible once, but I never got past the 'begets'.
Damn boring and tedious!

I avoid those books as well, but Job is a different story altogether. Give it a read and let me know, or not, your choice.Ned wrote:I tried to read the bible once, but I never got past the 'begets'.

That reminds me of another religious joke, doc!
You will see it in a minute!

Ned! You are a really big idiot yourself!

Tell me why you think I should read Job -- what's in it for me?thedoc wrote:I avoid those books as well, but Job is a different story altogether. Give it a read and let me know, or not, your choice.Ned wrote:I tried to read the bible once, but I never got past the 'begets'.

I would say that if an intelligent creator in fact created all life on planet earth, that it would have created the potential for greatness in the lifeforms. Meaning that the creator is not responsible for what we choose to do with that potential.Ned wrote:This a serious questions to true believers.
We all have seen them.
They are all over.
In government, in military, in business, in the citizenry at large and even on forums.
Was this part of his "intelligent design"?
If you can explain this to me, in a way that makes sense, I might be tempted to believe myself!

Sorry, Spheres, I disagree.SpheresOfBalance wrote:I would say that if an intelligent creator in fact created all life on planet earth, that it would have created the potential for greatness in the lifeforms. The hypothetical creator is responsible for EVERYTHING!
The buck stops right at his feet.
The truth is in the pudding, as they say, and we are the result of his creation.
Excuses and cop-outs aside -- he created us to be what we are and, being omnipotent and omniscient, he has no excuse at all -- he not only knew in advance (being omniscient) what we would become, but he knew that we had zero choice in the matter.
We are what he made us to be.
If my teenager children rob a bank or kill someone, it will be my fault because I created them, raised them, influenced them from day one, gave them values and told them how to behave.
I can't just shrug and say: oh well, they had free will to do what they chose, it's not my fault.
I would ask myself: "How did I fail? What did I do wrong?"
I would feel responsible.
So should 'god'.

No, you mean your hypothetical creator, not mine!

Re: Why did God create so many idiots?
Doesn't my logic apply to ANY creator?
I, as a parent, could decide if I wanted to create children.
So could 'god'
I, as a parent could prepare their environment (neighborhood, schools, activities)
So could 'god'
I, as a parent, could guide them during the growing up process
So could 'god'
I, as a parent, could stop them from hurting themselves
So could 'god'
So why do I, as a parent, feel ultimately responsible for how my children turned out?
Why doesn't 'god'?
(and my powers, as a parent, are tiny compared to his almighty, omnipotent and omniscient 'self')

PS. I believe 'he' is called the "heavenly father" -- based on evidence: the lousiest, most irresponsible failure of a father the universe has ever seen.
Time for social services to take his poor children out from under his thumb and put them under the care of the goddess of science!

I believe that I remember you posting that you were an atheist, please correct me if I am wrong. But given that, isn't being an atheist a bit like asking God to stay out of your life and leave you alone? How can you explain the apparent contradiction of asking God to get out of your life, and now you are asking why God doesn't fix everything by interfering with your life?
Re: Why did God create so many idiots?
doc, I thought you understood:
Every time I say something about 'god' -- what I mean is the following: If there was such a thing as a 'god' (which I don't believe), then I would think/say/object to/...etc the following:.......
