Your favourite song of all time what is it?
Re: Your favourite song of all time what is it?
Modelled on impenitent's favourites Saxon, no less. Still, if you think that's funny...

And to think some people say rock/heavy metal is masogynistic and egocentric male driven etc. Almost makes you tear up...
I love that bit at the end of the spinal tap video where they are sitting there crying and he goes
"That's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard!"
"Make that video, run with it, run like a little boy through a field."
"Sorry can you run that by me one more time?"
"I'm not sure I get it?"
"I get a sense of it I just don't understand it?"

I would prefer a song of the day. La chanson du jour.
One candidate, for one day, present or past:
Bonfire heart, sung by a certain James Blunts.
Nobody offers you a shoulder, nor looks you in the eye.
Nobody at all, James ?
Or only one of those who happen to avoid eye contact with you because ...
someone riding a motorcycle could be advocating sex, drugs and rock and roll.
Well I did kind of imply that with me changing my mind, but D just post what you like right now. It's all good.
The doc is allowed infinite likes, he's been nice to me in the past and I of course kid. Just post something that you like it's like posting your favourite film of all time, or prostitute, er I think I went a little too far there.
I would like to say I have never slept with a prostitute by the way, although all women are potential prostitutes, just as all men are potential rapists (as opined by Germaine Greer: The Male Eunuch). And that is also a joke. I am pretty sure most men are not what they seem, any more than most women are. Most of them need to be sent to bitch school though...
I should probably of shut up about 3 paragraphs ago, but I have never been one for shutting up.

See what I mean I like this. You're an all star whatever you post.

Sorry to disappoint you but I can appreciate most genre's of MUSIC but there are some forms that I do not consider as 'Music'. I don't enjoy someone on stage yelling (as opposed to actual singing) and shouting obscenities at the audience, but that's just me. I'll admit that I don't have the time now, to listen to all of the selections, (one was 15 minutes?) But I will probably come back later.
I posted this on another forum where I mentioned that some in the Opera community can actually make fun of Opera. Enjoy.

FYI, I actually have this bookmarked so I can listen when I think of it. The GrooveBarbers were previously Rock-a-pella. And Inna Dukach is an Opera singer, not just some vocalist that sings opera.

Actually I prefer that you don't 'shut up' it just seems more honest, as in your real thoughts.
Just curious, How many glasses of wine does it take, for you to start whining like this?
Re: Your favourite song of all time what is it?
I thought 'Bitch School' was funny, but sometimes you need to think about it to decide if they are serious, or stating the opposite to make a point? Most of the time I'm just too tired to think that hard, and don't get it.

Sorry, I just found this one again, and had to share.

Sometimes I think I'm addicted to YouTube, I listen to one thing and find something else I can't resist,

At some point I just don't care about the language, the melodies are just too beautiful to resist.

Spinal Tap are a spoof band meant to send up bands like Saxon, Kiss basically the whole stereotypical rock chick, masogynisitc, drug addled industry.
Rock and Roll dude!
I like all music from Bach to ZZtop myself bit of a music diletente.thedoc wrote:

I would also question their health and safety record vis a vis drummers.Impenitent wrote:http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x28p3n ... enge_music

What can you learn in bitch school ?
Is it something that men admire in women because it makes their lives un-boring ?

Re: Your favourite song of all time what is it?
You can learn how to be sexy and to sex men up apparently, also it seems it is only attended by stunning 18-21 year old blondes and brunettes who apparently need to be brought to heel, presumably by the teacher who appears to be a 30ish year old dominatrix with a whip...duszek wrote:What can you learn in bitch school ?

I presume it's one of those more modern progressive finishing schools or something.

Start with the assumption it's supposed to be funny:thedoc wrote:I thought 'Bitch School' was funny, but sometimes you need to think about it to decide if they are serious, or stating the opposite to make a point? Most of the time I'm just too tired to think that hard, and don't get it.

If they are serious, it's even funnier:

I was brought up on the Sex Pistols and Motorhead, bands my parents absolutely hated. At the time I thought there could never be any music so horrible that I could hate it. I really hate The Cancer Bats. The noise they make is bloody awful, but the world would be a worse place if there was nothing kids could love that their parents hated. My children don't like the Cancer Bats either, but at least the option is there.thedoc wrote:Sorry to disappoint you but I can appreciate most genre's of MUSIC but there are some forms that I do not consider as 'Music'.

Motorhead are legendary, No Sleep 'till Hammersmith was pretty special.
I have a soft spot for Early Maiden too, I particularly liked Killers apparently the lead singer before Bruce Dickinson was from my home town, useless trivial fact. And Metallicas Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets were some damned fine albums too.

This song is particularly disturbing.
I was a big fan of Queensrÿche too actually met them in London when they toured and got a signed vinyl album but my mum threw it a way, this was when CDs had just come in so she thought it was rubbish! Pity they only did 3 albums, as concept albums go Operation:Mindcrime was pretty awesome, a sort of rock opera.
More recently I think Chilé Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age are pretty good I saw them play live at the Ozzfest with Dave Grohl on drums and was hooked after that, also got to see most of the original line up of Black Sabbath and Ozzy perform some of their greatest hits; I also like Pearl Jam and grungy style metal like Inme but it's all good. Well almost all of it which is more than can be said for pop.
Bang on trend atm I think are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPtSKimbjOU
AWOLNATION. Linked it earlier but it bears repeating.
