Incidentally, I understand that Heraclitus was known as the obscure,
Yes, I was wrong. He was originally known as such but later he was known as the weeping
philosopher.

As for throwing away life ,again ,I would emphasis that in death ,it would not matter if you threw away your life.

Does that really require emphasis? Who do you suppose hasn't worked out that they are going to peg it?

In the throes of agitation ,about the most trivial of circumstances, they are
blind to the limited context of , situation ,time and space.
The noted philosopher ,Arthur Schopenhauer, made the point that when
you are dead it will not matter whether you had a good or bad life.

The pleasure and the pain and in what proportion and magnitude
these were felt suddenly has no meaning.
This is consolation for those whose lives are less than fulfilling.
As time passes, in great invisible arks, suddenly you are old
and facing down death.

Who cares then about the crab grass on the lawn or the
fact that you never got the new car you had so desired.
The laughter and the tears , the prosperity and the debt .
Nothing translates beyond the grave.
The wealthiest person and the poorest person are
equal in the inconsequential world of the deceased.
Yes, let's all treat life as though we're dead!

More than I, if truth were told,
Have stood and sweated hot and cold,
And through their reins in ice and fire
Fear contended with desire.

Agued once like me were they
I like them shall win my way
Lastly to the bed of mould
Where there's neither heat nor cold.

But from my grave across my brow
Plays no wind of healing now, And fire and ice within me fight.
Beneath the suffocating night.

Death
We lucky few , we band of homo sapiens sapiens. we know zero
Permian mass extinction.
The Permian mass extinction has been nicknamed The Great Dying, since a staggering 96% of species died out.
All life on Earth today is descended from the 4% of species that survived.
That. Is death.

Tequila is my lady..:)

SpheresOfBalance Yes, let's all treat life as though we're dead!
You fail to get the distinction between living life as if it was never going to end and living life as though we were dead. Indicates the inflexibility of your rudimentary thinking skills.
In any event ,I suggest you read my own answer to this essay.

WOW thats like 24 pt type Jesus H.

And thanks for the heads up.
I did not know author. A.E. Housman.
I'm a Yeats/Arnold/Shelley and a few others.. guy. Im sure someone will classify me for that.

Really are we so far appart. we both seem to ask same questions from different perspectives.
Im so tired of all the bickering. Surely it can become less a fundamental face off.
And more an investigation into a thing neither has experienced.. death.

Oh, a mistake.. death is not an experience. It is the end of all experience.

Yeah just cut out the poetic little girlie dweeb bullshit and

I wouldn’t get too upset by a Shark, what a lot of you probably don’t know is the miserable existence he leads. Merton is the sort of dreary stygian abyss where some personal tragedy has befallen all the inhabitants, if only being born there. Life and death are easily confused and as a Shark has intimated, people may very well be disproportionately worried about ‘crab grass’ in their lawn. In the land of the living, most people, including yours truly have little idea what crab grass is and care less.
Cheer up a Shark, things can't get any worse.

Oh the strained prose of the blase pseudo wannabe intellectual . Someone who obviously has not yet learned how to use Google maps to find a London borough .
It is not surprising you dont know what crab crass is since a
lifetime of living in a bedsit in some god awful concrete jungle ,doesn't lent itself to horticultural knowledge.

My IQ is so far off the chart that they have to use a magnifying glass to
deduce the scale.
