I feel like his advice bypasses the need for random forum users to educate themselves, because his advice is to seek out someone whose job it is to be educated... You can't expect all random forum users to "educate themselves" in this manner, but you can expect a professional to.

I'm participating in discussion on a philosophy forum. I'm not here get therapy. I have therapists and psychiatrists for that. I know where to go to find them. I'm here to participate in discourse regarding truth and wisdom and that's what I've been doing.

It makes me wonder if Nietzsche or Schopenhauer had to contend with people who immediately wanted them carted off to a doctor as soon as they opened their mouths. Apparently you all just want nothing more than happy vibes and will lock those dissenting out of sight and mind. Brave new world here we are.

Yeah for the jet set class who can cruise the Bahamas, hang out at Club Med or trek the Himalayas or whatnot. There are photos around of all the trash tourists leave behind in those once pristine places. You don't need to burn up a bunch of fuel in order to travel a thousand miles just to feel at peace and harmony with your surroundings. If that's what someone needs then they have worse problems than I do.

A person camping ‘correctly’ can minimize impact to very little.

I bikepack in my region and often stay in $12 hotels as a base for outings. True, such cheap accommodations are not found up north. But certainly there are cheaper options.

Aren’t there natural areas close to where you live?

There are local parks, waterways, arts and recreational activities for those who want escape from their usual habitat.

It's called frugality. It's less wasteful and more economical on resources. If someone needs exotic thrills to make life interesting then they have more luxury than most. I may be doped up on anti-psychotics and mood altering meds but traveling the world would make little difference in that case. No matter where you go you bring yourself anyway.

Christianity takes the cake when it comes to religion - it seems so user-friendly. I love it! May it flourish. The one thing I dislike about Christianity is that it's so easy to practise.

I'm not talking about financial travel tips. I'm asking about your method for 'feeling at peace and harmony with your surroundings', as you say? Also, how do you 'make life interesting', as you say? You're knocking someone for travelling as if you know how to accomplish all of this right where you are, which doesn't match all of your recent posts about hating life, right?
